Just like it says. I’m a territory sales rep covering about region in the Midwest. My furthest one way drive is about 150 miles. I bought my ID.4 to be my daily driver. The company reimburses me 0.56 per mile. Here are my impressions having lived with the ID.4 for many miles and trips.
- This car was made for my kind of work. It’s quiet, comfortable, and exciting enough to break up the long stretches of cornfields you get here in the Midwest. I can make most of my daily routes without having to stop to charge. If I need to charge, there are 2 EA chargers in my territory and one just outside it. I plug it in nightly, charge to 80% and head out. If I’m going to my furthest destination I fully charge. From 80% I get between 190-210 miles depending on how I drive, from 100% it normally is 240-270.
- Outside of the two recalls I’ve had zero issues. The car has performed well. Occasionally, the computer will throw out a phantom error that clears itself after the next drive. I’ve learned to live with the software bugs and touch sensitive controls so my frustration with them has lessened considerably.
- it is costing my about $0.03 per mile in electricity to drive (if I charge at home and not for free at EA).
I’ve found the ID.4 to be a great asset in my line of work. Obviously, I wish VW would push some needed bug fixes out as well as enable plug and go. I have the RWD First Edition and my territory includes Buffalo so I have ordered an AWD ID.4 and an AWD Mach-E so we’ll see which one cones in first.
