Ours is not based on Android Automotive OS, so I wonder if they still plan 15 years support for us non AAOS? I doubt it since VW are moving all new cars in a few years to AAOS that leaves us as stranded then.
Oh, I thought it was a fork of some kind. Do you know it is based on then?Ours is not based on Android Automotive OS, so I wonder if they still plan 15 years support for us non AAOS? I doubt it since VW are moving all new cars in a few years to AAOS that leaves us as stranded then.
Currently based on blackberry QNX for infotainment with some automotive grade linux for the binnacle and real time critical systems. Lots of details in here:Oh, I thought it was a fork of some kind. Do you know it is based on then?
What do you mean by that? My ID.3 got 2.1 => 2.3 as an OTA update. Now it has 3.0 installed. There have also been many smaller updates and also the navigation database is updated automatically in the background. It would be very easy for them to maintain their current level of support for another 100+ years, since they've not released a single update...
Most US cars are still on 2.1 and haven't received any updates in 2 years of ownership. What do you mean by that? My ID.3 got 2.1 => 2.3 as an OTA update. Now it has 3.0 installed. There have also been many smaller updates and also the navigation database is updated automatically in the background.
Well those of us that own id.4s in the Land of Forgotten Promises (USA) envy the support that VW provide elsewhere. Even China gets updates before the US.What do you mean by that? We do get the navi updates, but thats it.Most US cars are still on 2.1 and haven't received any updates in 2 years of ownership.
Tesla has practically already stopped supporting their older cars so what's the difference:15 years of nothing is still nothing. I read the article and laughed
I know the # of updates that they have gotten since 2016 is a LOT more then the 0 I have gotten since April 2021...Tesla has practically already stopped supporting their older cars so what's the difference:

Why so few SW updates for my 2016 Model S
I bought my 2016 MS 5 years ago and still love driving it. I used to read a lot of TMC forum posts to keep up to date on things, but haven't been here for over a year now. So I'm wondering if the lack of software updates is due to the age of my car and Tesla isn't updating older cars very...teslamotorsclub.com
Not true. My friend’s 1st gen model X just got an update about 3 months ago, and there is a plan offered to upgrade cameras and computer for FSD which will come at a costs. The 5 year old Tesla Mobileye autopilot similar in ID4 TACC still looks more advanced than what VW has to offer now. The only non support is the body parts I met a guy who waited 9 months for a floor cover. Tesla from what I hear doesn’t make spare parts.Tesla has practically already stopped supporting their older cars so what's the difference:

You might want to check that. For the older cars that now need a hardware upgrade to stay current, they offer a H/W upgrade. VW has not delivered a single upgrade to the US market: "0", Nada, Zip.Tesla has practically already stopped supporting their older cars so what's the difference:

Not zero. Maybe 250 or so made it through. So they’ve delivered like 1% of an upgradeYou might want to check that. For the older cars that now need a hardware upgrade to stay current, they offer a H/W upgrade. VW has not delivered a single upgrade to the US market: "0", Nada, Zip.
My personal experience is zero and that's all I can speak to.Not zero. Maybe 250 or so made it through. So they’ve delivered like 1% of an upgrade
Here’s the guy in charge of your software and your EV. They are not all in!Since this thread is about upgrades, my comment is that VW over the short span that they have actually been involved in the BEV market (where upgrades are an important market requirement) has delivered zero to the market. Tesla has delivered a steady drum beat of upgrades, and when they upgraded onboard hardware to the product line they have offered an upgrade hardware option to older cars. VW has delivered neither. And, yes a few 2021 id.4s got an upgrade, but he broader group got ZERO (as in Zip, nada, bupkus). VW continues to optimize stockholder profit over customer satisfaction. Ford has admitted they have lost money on their EVs to date, but they are committed to the BEV space and will recover those costs in the future if they support the transition. VW ( of America?) is clueless and tone deaf on this strategy.
