China is getting two version of the ID.4 for now, The ID.4 X and ID.4 Crozz

There’s the ID.4 Crozz which looks exactly like the ID.4 from the rest of the world, and the ID.4 X which features different headlights, taillights, and bumpers for a more distinctive appearance.

Because of that, the ID.4 X is 20 mm (0.8 in) longer than its sibling; it’s also 11 mm (0.4 in) taller, for some reason. The width and the wheelbase are identical, though. While the ID.4 X and ID.4 Crozz feature styling differences on the outside, they look largely the same on the inside – though the former appears to feature a different center console.

Why does China need two ID.4 models, you ask? It’s because VW has two major joint venture partners in China and both wanted the ID.4, the first MEB-based product VW Group has built in China. As a result, the ID.4 Crozz is built by FAW-VW and the ID.4 X is made by SAIC-VW.

Production of both ID.4 models has already started last week at a new EV assembly plant in Shanghai (ID.4 X) and an existing factory in Foshan (ID.4 Crozz). Each plant has an annual EV capacity of 300,000 vehicles. ~

That grey looks awesome! Wish it was metallic paint though. Ended up going with the white because of that.

I wonder if any of these Chinese-market parts will eventually be potential OEM+ upgrades / modifications for those of us interested in tinkering with the ID.4.

Maybe this rear light bar will fit the US version

I know for the latest Passat, the Chinese market got HID headlights and the American market did not. Folks discovered with a little coding, the Chinese HID headlights were plug and play for an American Passat. I will bet some of the Chinese ID.4 parts will fit the American ID.4.
