I have a locked reservation for the ID.4 AWD with all option, including the Kings Red paint. The MSRP is around $50k, why wouldn't I "upgrade" to the Audi Q4 2022 for the same price? VW must know that many people like me are waiting for the Audi Q4 2022 Etron US release...

Do you know how much the Q4 will cost and which trim is comparable to a loaded ID4?

Here in Canada, the base Q4 is the same price as a loaded ID4 - the ID4 is actually a bit cheaper because of Federal rebates.

I was reviewing this article: 2022 Audi Q4 e-Tron Sportback: Expected Release Date, Price, MPG, And Performance (carhp.com)
where the "expected" premium plus price is $49K. My loaded ID4 is $50K (all before govt incentives).
Those prices seem a bit optimistic based on Canadian pricing.

Canadian Prices:
MY22 Q4 50 e-tron quattro
Komfort: from $59,950
Progressiv: from $65,350
Technik: from $68,350

MY22 Q4 Sportback 50 e-tron quattro
Progressive: from $67,600
Technik: from $70,600

For Comparison:
VW ID.4 AWD Pro
Base: $49,995
Statement Package: $57,995

I am hoping the Audi Q4 is offered without the the glass roof but still with the items I would like at a reasonable price. For example, I would prefer the ID,4 Pro S for the vinyl seats but I do not want the sunroof. Audi is likely to charge extra for a heated steering wheel and navigation. If they are buried in expensive packages it would kill it for me. If available without a sunroof, with heated vinyl/leather seats and navigation ( I can live without the heated wheel) and at $5K more than the ID.4, I'm in! In my opinion the Audi has a far better interior and I understand it is lowered by about one inch compares to the ID.4 which should improve handling a bit.

I think its mostly just personal preference. I personally like the ID.4 futuristic interior more. it seems more open and less aggressive. Exterior wise, they both look good to me, but Audi gets that brand boost.

It mostly comes down to pricing. Audi is supposed to start $2k more than the Pro S, but it'll likely have fewer features like adjustable seats, panoramic roof. I suspect the trim I'd want, S-line with adaptive dampers, to be around $58-60k.

You too? Yeah, I saw that Audi interior and as a former (satisfied) allroad owner, it looked very familiar, yet at the same time was a bit of a let down, as if they're not quite embracing the modern EV esthetic, or capitalizing on what it has to offer (particularly the gear selector, but in general the lack of clutter).

But, I suppose of they're trying to attract current Audi owners into electric vehicles, this is the safe approach.

Yeah the Audi looks nice, if safe. Steering wheel looks much nicer with the acc functions in a separate stalk. I think the map behind the steering wheel is gimmicky and like the id4 minimalist display, except the complete lack of any mileage, trip duration, consumption or other basic info that head been on the DIS displays for the last 20 years. I prefer the completely open center console on the id4 to what Audi did with the weird controls shelf and traditional hinged storage. Both are pure touchscreen so not much difference there. I really miss the MMI dial, it's the most ergonomic and safe way to control the screen.

Edit: also anyone expecting the q4 with similar features to id4 at less than $10k more is in for a surprise. For some features I would expect more like $15k more if it gets caught up in the prestige package. Canadian pricing above looks about right.

I agree, they are going with the safe approach and I think that it's going to be successful. My wife is interested in trading-in her Q5 hybrid for the Q4 sportback.

I expect the Q4 E-tron pricing to be sandwiched between Q5 and Q3 after federal incentives.

Q5 numbers...
Premium - $43,300
Premium Plus - $48,100
Prestige - $54,000

Q3 numbers...
Premium - $34,000
Premium S line - $36,000
Premium Plus - $37,300
Premium Plus S line - $39,300

The Q4 premium is supposed to start just under $45,000, so after incentives that is $37,500 after federal.

Sorry but this is too optimistic.

I expect at least 10k difference between comparable trims. I think base model Q4 e-tron will be $49k before incentives.

Don't think it'll be sandwiched between Q3 and Q4 due to it being electric and electric cars tend to cost more than ICE still. I'm guessing more around $48-$52K before any incentives.
