I can't seem to find any info if the NJ EV rebate program is being renewed again in 2022. It's called NJ Charge Up (Eligible Vehicles | Charge Up New Jersey) and few VW dealerships I spoke to think that it will be coming back. I know the funds ran out last year in Q3 but heard it could be replenished in Q1 of this year but can't find any info - wondering if anyone has heard anything.
My ID.4 is scheduled to arrive in June 2022 so was hoping to take advantage of both the federal $7500 credit and the NJ $5000 credit to splurge for the AWD Pro S. Otherwise, if the NJ credit doesn't come back - might have to just go with the AWD Pro instead.
Also read somewhere that Federal credit is only good until car manufacturer sells 200k units - then the credit phases out. Wonder where VW is at in terms of EV sales.

I think it depends on legislature passing funding. But based on last year, you probably wouldn’t qualify for the full amount if you get AWD Pro S as there are limits based on MRSP.

@Backpacker I have been looking into the NJ scheme before placing an order and found this useful document.
My understanding is that it is due to reopen once new financial year budget has been approved. Rebate looks like it will drop from $5k to $2.5K if under $45k MSRP and from $2k to $1K if Between $45k-$55k. It is a pity the PRO S list is just over the $45k mark.
I imagine that criteria for ordering and purchasing/receiving the vehicle before the funding runs out will be tough with current lead times. Hopefully funding will last longer than in 2021 with reduced rebates.

The final document is out (page 100)

It seems the program is already out, but the wording of the document will leave many of us being ineligible....
"The entirety of the purchase or lease, including the ordering, for an eligible vehicle must occur on or after the official launch of the FY23 Point-of-Sale Program"

The language on the website now for the last phase is:
The vehicle must be ordered, purchased or leased after 07/06/21, the launch of the point-of-sale program;
......
So I reserved (can be confused with ordered) my ID in September, 2020... Picked it up/payed for in complete on September 13th, 2021 (2 days before funding ran out). So I think we should still be good with the word "ordered". I think that essentially means final payment.

"The Charge Up New Jersey Compliance Filing defines the order date as, “the date which the customer places a down payment of any sort on the vehicle purchased or leased in the State of New Jersey at a participating dealership or showroom""

Maybe that's the kicker?..

I guess at this point all I can say is - good luck to us! 🤣

Again, very confusing. Reservation was put in last year, and locked this month. But likely will get delivery in October November time frame..So from the eligibility point of view, if the Id 4 was reserved before 7/25, it doesn't qualify. Pretty much it makes this rebate useless even though car qualifies for it! Also, not sure if car reserved after 7/25/22, but likely will get delivery in 2023, will it be eligible then?

If you get delivery in October/November and there is still funding available, you will get the rebate.

I know you may not believe me, but again.... My ID.4 reservation was in September 2020, took delivery of the car on 9/13/2021 and received the rebate last "cycle". I am now hoping to get $2k for a Polestar 2 due beginning of September.

Looks like it's back for 2022...(just saw a Phil Murphy FB video about it and the site is updated.)

Sadly, this will only help those who are purchasing cancelled orders (maybe to offset any dealer markup or if you're lucky to get a cancelled order at MSRP) as its unlikely that anyone who has an order in already will qualify for the rebate, or the funds will be depleted by the time the car arrives.

Yes that's what my dealer told me.

But note the following statement in the terms and conditions document (https://chargeup.njcleanenergy.com/...Charge_Up_New_Jersey_Terms_and_Conditions.pdf):

"In order to ensure consumer confidence in the program and prevent price gouging, dealers must provide fair and transparent pricing details. Price markups that diminish the value of the State’s incentive for the consumer are prohibited. Dealers may not include mark-ups or market price adjustments for which there is no specific line item or additional underlying value. The Program Administrator may therefore deny any incentive reimbursement application when the total pre-incentive price paid by the customer exceeds the manufacturer’s suggested retail price (“MSRP”) without justification. For example, the Program Administrator may deny an incentive reimbursement application for a vehicle sold above MSRP when there are no line items demonstrating that the customer received additional product or service options in exchange for paying a pre-incentive price that exceeds MSRP. The Program Administrator may likewise deny an application when line-item charges for additional product or service options appear to significantly exceed their typical market value."

In case anyone is wondering if the initial $100 deposit or the $400 deposit to lock the configuration has to be placed after the beginning of the program to qualify for the rebate - it if the former. I just got an e-mail from Charge Up NJ telling me that my May reservation, which hasn’t locked does not qualify. (In the mean time, no response to the same question from Princeton VW.)
