They have 13000 locations so it will be interesting to see how fast they add these chargers and how many of their 13000 locations get them. No details on how fast they will be:
They already have some here in CO, CA, TX, FL so yet another charging app I need to download.

I signed up, the stations near me (louisville and fort lupton) are 90kw and they have 2 plugs at one and 4 at another. The app works well and shows charger availability. Already they have 7 plugs in TX, 4 in CA, 6 in CO, 16 in FL! The chargers near me cost $.39- $.43/kwh almost the same as EA, and $1/min. idle time after 15 min. grace.

I've always thought of 7-11 as pop in and out and limited parking. I'm more into Walmart when grocery shopping. That's just me.
If it was the old days, I'd pop a few quarters into Pole Position or Star Wars to waste some time, pick up this month's edition of 4-Wheel & Off -Road or Mountain Bike Action, and have them squirt a couple pumps of nacho cheese into a bag of Doritos. Sure can't eat cheesy Doritos while driving – not with a white steering wheel!

This is cool. Great to see more and more businesses starting to put in chargers. They actually just built a new 7-11 gas station not far from my house and I was hoping being a new construction they would have put some EV chargers in too, but they did not. Too bad they didn't enact this program a few months earlier.

I'll believe the 'Largest EV Charging Network' when I see it - I doubt it will be practical to install chargers at half of their 13,000 stores. But . . . it's certainly a step in the right direction and if the chargers are limited to 90 or 100Kw, people will have a bit of time to do some shopping for sure. I'd prefer charging there than at WalMart or Target

Agreed, urban 7-Elevens in my region are generally space-constrained with relatively limited parking -- and there are already an abundance of DCFC charging options near by. I imagine they will be somewhat selective where these are deployed.

The chargers they have here in Florida so far are 50kW chargers. Qualifying for the DCFC designation, but on the real slow side.

I would hope that nobody puts in something that slow right now. I can't imagine being stuck at a 7-11 for an hour to charge.

I wonder who 7-11 will partner with to install and maintain the things?

Contrary to GCR's headline, 7-Eleven didn't say they plan to create the largest EV charging network. They said they plan to build "one of the largest and most compatible electric vehicle charging networks of any retailer in North America." That's a pretty significant difference.

Green Car Reports didn't see fit to link to the actual press release, but it's here, if you're curious.

Many of the 7-Elevens I'm familiar with further outside of the immediate urban environment, such at ones out in Pleasanton, Dublin, Fremont etc. – developed suburban neighborhoods – are sited near high density residential neighborhoods, some near apartments and other multi-family dwellings of different ages and types. Many of these could be ideal locations for 50 kW DCFC: lower installation costs, lower grid demand, time for EV owners without at-home charging to plug in, run neighborhood errands or return home to cook dinner / go walk the dog. Not the go-go fast charging needs of the commuter or traveler, and not the inconvenience of a public L2 which requires plug-in and unplug to occur in two distinct and separate time periods of the day.

I just checked in their app, and every charger in the US is 90kw, including all the ones in FL. Maybe you saw an old network they had.

Didn't even know 7-11 exists any longer ... Nice option for those that choose it... But I'll stick with the coffee/sandwich bars..
