I have a Pro S Gradient on order since 3/20. Blue with the gray interior.

My first question is about the battery temperature. Living in very hot 8 months of the year South Central Texas what happens to the battery when the car is parked in the garage? Does the cooling come on even when the car is turned off? What about what being home Level 2 charged?

Speaking of chargers, what is the favorite. I am waiting to see the EA home charger but there are many others.

We don't know specifics yet - nobody has had a car in a hot climate long enough. I could sort of guess, but it would only be a guess.

There are lots of EVSE - I guess the first question is do you want it to be smart (WiFi connected) or not. Then indoor vs outdoor - garage i would call indoor (no rain on the thing). If you only have a 30A circuit in the garage, and don't intend to upgrade to 50A, that could also influence your choice.

I plan on having a 50 amp Level 2 charger installed in the garage. My car is always garage kept. We owned a 2013 Ford C-Max hybrid and on occasion I would be in the garage and would hear the battery cooling fan running, mainly in the summer. On a 90+ degree day and after putting a hot car in the garage I am certain the temperature has to be north of 100. Our current 2017 Malibu hybrid has a liquid cooling system for the electronic components same as was found in the Volt.

I was level 2 charging in my garage yesterday and noticed the cooling fan kick on. It was probably only 60 degrees F at the time so I would expect it to kick on during hotter temps as well. They certainly did on my Prius and Honda PHEVs and our Kia Soul EV so I don't consider it unusual.

This is a site I have used to figure out what EVSE I wanted to use (along with youtube reviews). It allows for filtering by zip code for incentives, cost range, wifi connectivity, etc.

Below is an excellent review of the ChargePoint Flex but a number of other models are discussed in comparison. I appreciate the questions Tom asks to determine the best application as well.
You'll find many other reviews and a comprehensive tutorial on ID.4 charging below as well (Tom admits it's a bit long, but aimed at new EV'ers).
And of course an excellent thread right here: Let's talk Chargers (EVSE)
