How much do you think the dealer will charge me to “un-brick” my ID.4?

This issue might just fix itself if you give it enough time. Any issues I have had have reset themselves by the next morning.

"Firefighter, read the book"

Dana posted this link earlier today. Third page, Option 2

Yep, that's the one I pulled, I've replaced it, but don't see any instructions on how to reset
What was your intention to pull this fuse....
intent, intent? Stupidity rarely has intent because that would imply pre-thought, which was clearly absent from my mindless action! 20 years ago I would be beating myself up about this but now it’s like, “hey, I’m at home, the cars in the garage, it will get sorted out on Monday”. A real maturing process when you can gain some perspective 😎

I was just pulling a different fuse to get the 12v socket to unswitched so I could vacuum my back seat after the dog was back there. That I did perfectly and it works great. But….
If you ask next time you go to service about installing 12V outlet to the front it will be easy to make it just don't mess with distribution fuse box
If you still want to do it yourself use battery terminals so you are not getting refused warranty repair because of using un authorized use of distribution fuse box.
In battery case only they can refuse is battery warranty or complaint about 12V battery not staying charged or gone dead .
And please be more careful next time.
Buy ID4 service manual and subscription to wiring schematics for ID4 so you can do professional installation and use fuse terminal box.
It is great book for fellas that love playing with modifications.

OK there fella, no need to get snippy 😜

To be clear, I didn't go off the reservation and mod (you make it sound like I was out there with a solder gun and wired up some exotic change) . In fact, what I intended to do worked perfectly, following the instructions from this post:

No big deal, works as designed.

Now, regards accidentally pulling that other fuse, I believe I've been very self depricating as to my momentary lapse in consentration. No need to pile on (though I don't really mind)

Now that I'm in this mess do you know how to reset it? I'm happy to provide the error codes I see from my OBD2 dongle, if you think you can help. Let me know VW Technician...

What type of software are we talking?
I'm not judging you ... if you ask me i would repair it free of charge.... this fuse should never be in the fuse box for the rest of the ID.4...it should be separate with own access just this fuse.

It looks like fuse 27 to me. However, the schematics indicate that it is a 25A fuse for the passenger seat belts. That does not make sense. In the schematic, it would appear to be fuse 28, a 10 Amp fuse. That fuse provides a voltage to the battery regulation control module inside of the high voltage battery pack.

This module is connected to the network (CAN bus), so I suspect that it needs to be re-enabled using software only available to VW at this time. They probably want to be able to inspect it in case the fuse was pulled due to an accident. Are those notches in the blades of the fuse? I can't be sure if that is some type of discoloration or notches. If they are notches, the fuse might be special and designed to prevent a standard fuse being inserted. Alternatively, part of the fuse is designed to break off upon extraction. These are all guesses.

I will be interested in finding out how this turns out.

I would pull the 12v battery cable and let it sit for a couple hours , re-attach cable , cross-fingers that everything has reset
Some critical errors are permanently stored in memory until manually cleared.
Same if you have a glitch in the Airbags, one fault and it will keep nagging about it until it is reset by the dealer.
That resetting/clearing could in the past be done by switching the car on and off in a certain sequence, but with the VW it seems we can only clear it via external maintenance software
(OBDelevel, Ross-tech, VW native tools, etc).

@VW TECHNICIAN: Please correct me if i'm wrong, but we can't clear permanently stored errors without external software anymore, can we?

Still Worth a Try as it it simple and cheap

I know "back in the day" memory chips could drain in a few minutes...I'm assuming much longer these days which is why I am suggesting at least a couple hours. Overnight would be best

Plenty of people have pulled the HV fuse in tandem with the 12V battery for a full vehicle reset without getting errors like this. I think the lack of a 12V reset might be the cause of this. Disconnect the 12V, re-insert the HV fuse, re-connect the 12V. (Doesn't need to be disconnected for hours or anything)
