Volkswagen filed international trademarks for the names ID.4 X, ID.5 X and ID.6 X with the World Intellectual Property Organization on January 07, 2020 and are likely for all-wheel-drive (AWD) crossovers and SUV’s, as the ‘X’ often indicates.I also discovered that since July 2018 trademarks for ID.2 X - ID.6 X were filed but only for Germany.

What’s interesting is, only three of them just graduated to International status, just in time for the ID.4’s confirmed late 2020 launch.

As for the other models, a year after that will be the ID.5 with a rumored higher-performing GTX trim, a model that can only come with a two-motor AWD layout. Then the ID.6 in the following year. The ID.5 is said to be the first electric VW to get the GTX trim.

Specs of the ID.4 X could be similar to its concept, the I.D.CROZZ that ran two motors and an 83-kWh lithium-ion battery that produced a total of 302 hp controlled by W’s 4MOTION all-wheel drive system.

I'm surprised that VW hasn't filed a trademark for ID.7X because that's apparently what the ID.Buzz will be called.

Its possible the ID.7 will come with standard AWD, so need need for the X model on top of a base.

That would make sense, but you'd still think VW would file the trademark just to cover their bases.
