So today I walk by my ID.4 to water the flowers in the front and notice that all 4 windows are fully open! I swear I didn’t do anything. Only thing I tested was a new RFID blocking pouch for my car. And the only button I may have pressed is the close button on the FOB. Does anyone have an explanation?

A double press and then hold on 2nd press on the unlock on the FOB will do that.
Could it have been pressed accidentally?

I have not found the way to roll the windows back up though from just the FOB. I had to press the brake and hold 'rear' until flashing to roll up the 4 windows together.

That is double press and hold on unlock button on fob. My thought is the VW will not let you raise all windows from fob as a safety concern.
Perhaps, yes, since it's now a remote function. On my '99 Jetta it was insert key, turn and hold to roll down everything, and turn to lock and hold to raise everything.

I had a BMW where this used to happen and I knew it was related to the key FOB but never knew the sequence which caused it. I had to make sure I didn't carry it around in my pocket where it would accidentally get pressed after finding all my windows and sunroof opened in my driveway a couple times. Thankfully, it never rained when they were all all open unbeknownst to me.

The manual states the following which seems to indicate windows can be closed from the outside. Anyone tried the Lock button or door unlock sensor?

****
“The windows can be opened and closed from outside the vehicle using the vehicle key when the ignition is switched off.

Press and hold the unlock or lock button on the vehicle key.

Hold your finger on the unlock sensor in the door handle for several seconds until the windows are closed ⇒ Keyless Access. The vehicle key must be nearby to use this feature.

To stop the function, release the unlock or lock button, OR remove your finger from the sensor.”

That doesn't apply to the US market. US cars can open the windows through the keyfob, but cannot close them through either the keyfob or door handle sensor. Others have mentioned (or speculated?) the close feature isn't available in US due to legal/liability risk.

That is pretty stupid to put it in the manual and it does not work. I spend quite a bit of time to figure out what am I doing wrong. They could update it in the online manual.
Oh well that's life
That's because VW didn't put the technical writers in a clean room to write the NA ID4 user's manual. They just copy and pasted instructions from previous VW manuals 😖, not knowing the EU vs NA model differences. To me, that's also a failure of marketing deleting NA features and not talking to technical writers. The user manual reads like a CYA booklet written by lawyers 🤯.
My 2 cents.

I fixed that 🤣, the VW literature site shows separate manuals for US and Canada. In Canada we can open and close Windows using a fob. My last 2 GLA did that so I don't see why the Canadian ID.4 wouldn't. Guess we'll have to see when ever we get them..

U are not alone and VWoA did not know either if it should or should not work. I have given up wondering and just assume overall sloppy programing job, actually very sloppy. And i do not assume things get fixed in OTA so to be not disappointed
