Nope, it’s been open since Sep 2020, just like the RWD models.
I don’t understand. Last fall I reserved the First Edition ID.4, and there was no option to reserve the AWD ID.4. I even spoke with VW corporate’s EV support group, asking them if the First Edition reservation can later be converted to the AWD ID.4, and they weren’t sure if that would be allowed. I backed out of the First Edition reservation by late December, and there was still no option to reserve the AWD ID.4. It was on their web site as coming in the summer of 2021, but the reservation was not open for it.
Granted, I didn’t check the VW reservation system in the winter or spring of 2021, as I wanted to see what Kia EV6 would be like.
I read in electrek.com in late June that the AWD ID.4 reservations were opening up in the US, and I immediately made a reservation and then paid an additional $400.
This article published in June 18, 2021 says the same - reservations for AWD ID.4 was opening up in June 2021.
“Now reservations can be made for the all-wheel-drive and deliveries are expected in the fourth quarter of this year.”
