I am not sure if this has already been discussed, but I was wondering if anyone that has a RWD Pro / Pro S reserved has been notified of production status, shipment, or even got a delivery date estimate? I reserved back in Sept, and locked in mid Jan, but it is still sitting at step 3/7 with no updates as of yet. (I check it every day just to see if it changes.)

I know someone mentioned that it is estimated to be 2-3 months after lock-in for these ones, but I have been reading a lot of people getting past step 3 and not sure if all of them have been FE reservations, or if some are Pro.

Thanks, at least it is good to know that some non-FE models are progressing. There is a lot of chatter on this forum that seems to all be FE right now, so any information regarding progress on non-FE models is very welcome. It almost feels like a lottery system.

Congrats on getting to the next step, btw!

Thank you for the information, that is good to know. At least the portal is consistently inconsistent. ;) I am mainly just impatient, but will just have to deal with the waiting for now.

I think the clearest bit of information that we have regarding Pro RWD vehicles at this point is that they (VWOA) are targeting a May delivery window. I think the Portal, "All hail the portal", is likely going to behave more correctly for the Pro deliveries as far as updating steps. It would be nice if there was a metric or index for the duration of each step, but alas.

My RWD Pro S is on a ship that left Germany on the 20th and coming to Baltimore. Currently the ship Siem Cicero is currently off the coast of France.

thats some pretty clear insight there. How do you have that figured out? I'm hoping Cicero has my vehicle as well.

dealer looked up and said it left on a ship on March 20, found the Volkswagen export schedule on rennlist.com, it was the only vehicle carrier ship leaving Emden Germany on that day then to marinetraffic.com and searched for siem cicero.

Very nice! Hope you are able to let us know how it is when you get it. My EV specialist only sent me an email once back in January, but have not gotten any replies from him since. I’m hoping he will be able to get me a better estimate than the portal provides.

you've had more contact than most. The manufacturer to dealer to end user path has been vague and limited at best. I don't thing VW is built for this kind of Customer Experience top to bottom.

Ordered ID.4 Pro RWD on December 28, 2020. Locked on January 14, 2021. Went to step 4 of 7 on March 18, 2021. VW sent me an email that the car was on a boat March 20, 2021.

Test drove a FE on March 17, 2021 at the local dealer. Local dealer has been straightforward with information as they know. Later via email, answered questions regarding OTA updates - not through your WiFi - but through the cellular network. Expecting delivery to me late April / early May -- this timeframe has been consistent since January with dealer updates and seems to agree with boat date of March 18, 2021 (assuming Cicero departed Emden on that date). Will probably get trucked from Houston (April 13) to Las Vegas.

Wow, nice! Gives me hope to hear something soon. Definitely makes it all seem very lotto-ish on who’s reservation gets manufactured. There might be a method to it all, but I can’t tell what that is.
I think some dealers are being very active about this, and others just aren’t unfortunately.

It's not first come, first served. Dealerships are assigned order allotments based on past sales performance. Identical orders could be placed at two dealerships on the same day, and based on the number of allotments and number of orders already in the queue at that dealership, the could be "locked" and sent for assembly at very different times. If there's a shortage of a particular component required to fulfil a particular option, that order could be held until there are sufficient resources. If asked a forthright sales manager could probably give a good projection of the expected wait time but they probably won't have all the insight to offer a truly precise build week, up until it's go time. But the sales manager can also "shuffle the desk" to move a higher priority customer's ticket in front of another.

** edit since the 1st Edition order process for the ID.4 is online initially I don't know whether the allotment status of the delivery dealership ultimately selected by the purchaser factors in, or if the 1st edition vehicles are being processed in the order the deposits were received -- which seems more likely.
