FitCamX has a 3:45 minute video which is something you'll need to get really familiar with to get the job done - You'll pause and rewind that several times before you're finished
It's not clear, but is seems like this video was made by a third party rather than FitCamX. I wonder if it would be easier to run the cable straight back along the headliner. That would certainly resolve the length concern, but I'm not sure if the airbags could be passed safely.

Yes, sadly mine. When I installed the front camera, it never lit up and the rain sensor no longer works and I've got an airbag error now too. I thought I must have blown the fuse, but it tests good. FitCamX sent me another unit and that came yesterday, but I won't have time to mess with it for a few days. I'll report back here whatever my outcome happens to be

Anxious to hear what the fix was. I'm hesitant to install anything that throws errors on a brand new car. I assume if you uninstalled all the errors would go away?

I installed with no errors. Working good so far for the past 2 months. Ensure that you are NOT installing sitting in the driver's seat. It's written on the instructions that came with the cam.
All the best.

Yes, not only not sitting in the drivers seat, but also make sure your key is nowhere near the car - Those instructions were added to the second kit they sent me and I'm sure that was a part of my problems the first go around

Attention if you are buying the FitcamX. There are two profiles for the product, one a low profile that closely matches the OEM blank behind the mirror on the ID-4 and a profile that protrudes down below the mirror and obstructs part of the drivers view. Some may consider this obstruction minor, but for me personally, any obstruction of view forward is not good. If ordering from Amazon you will most likely get the one that hangs low. If ordering direct from Fitcamx they will ask you to take a picture showing the profile of your stock mirror and will send the correct, low profile, Fitcamx.

When I ordered direct from Fitcamx I sent the requested photo and they sent the correct low profile product, however, it was defective and would not power up. As a result Fitcamx replaced it using Amazon as a US supplier. This allowed me to get the replacement quickly. I appreciated the very quick turnaround rather then waiting for a new shipment from Asia. When it arrived and I installed it I realized the difference and obstructed view.

The replacement works great. Outstanding quality video so my only complaint is that Fitcamx offers two different profile products for the ID-4 when in fact only the low profile should be offered and is the only acceptable model for our ID-4’s. I considered returning the replacement but it seemed like a crap shoot that I would get the correct one from Amazon. The box it came in clearly says it’s for the ID-4 and replicates the OEM profile - In fact some do and some don’t. I suggest you order direct from Fitcamx and be sure to insist on the low profile model.

Thanks for this info, looking at their site, they now specify an id3 version which matches your installed model, and the id4/id5/id6 which is the slimmer one. The id3 model has the SD card horizontal and the id4 one has it vertical. The Amazon listing only shows vertical sd card which gives me confidence.

I think a small piece of polarizing film like that used with cameras to bump 'saturation' and specific reflections outside might help.

Late to the party here. Wish I found this before I went and bought one of these Fitcamx dash cams during a Black Friday sale. What a nightmare to install. Ended up taking the mirror off after finding a YouTube video about it, then had to ask for help getting it back on. After putting most of it back together, I went inside to grab my key, and got in the drivers side. Turn on the car and had several faults - like 3 or 4. Backup camera was one. I think rain sensor was another. Then I got back into the passenger side, and pushed down on all the connectors. Back into the drivers side, and one fault popped up but no others. So I turned it off and on again, and no faults. I decided to wait about 20 minutes, and back in I went, and still no faults. So I put the plastic casing back together and went for a drive after setting up the software.

I forgot to ask the question - I assume the card is on the right side of the cam. How do I get it out of there, and what does the thumb drive that came with it do? There was no information in the instructions for any of that.

I also have the glare issue so I'm going to try a dash mat for that.

Remove the card by pushing in on it (with something small) & it will pop out partially. Use the thumb drive to view the card on your computer (after inserting it into the thumb drive).

I just installed the Fitcamx last week. Was a bit of a pain, but it works fine now.

However, I am noticing that the Fitcamx is recording overnight while the car is off & parked in our driveway. I was under the impression that it would not record when the car is off. I looked in the app, and there are two parking mode settings, but they are both turned off: "parking monitor collision detection" is off; and "parking record time" is off.

My main concern is that it will drain the 12V battery. So I want to know if this is normal for this camera. And should I be worried about it continously recording? If so, how to deactivate to recording only when the car is in motion?

Hmm, I just ordered one and since I actually park on the street I'd be willing to risk the 12v battery for the peace of mind gained knowing it was recording overnight. Did you do the normal hookup through the mirror or did you connect to the fuse box? Please let me know if you see a setting that enabled this when you are looking into how to disable.

Mine is connected through the mirror (i.e. powered through the rain sensor). It is maybe recording 7-8 times over night, not a continuous recording.

There are two settings in the app related to this: “parking monitor collision detection” & “parking record time”; both are set to “off” for me, which is why I am asking. I contacted Fitcamx’s customer support about this & was told my inquiry is being referred to a specialist who will get back to me in 24 hours.

That would seem to indicate your car is turning itself on during those times where the dashcam records. I’ve had the same installation for 6 months and it does not record overnight.

if you live in a house it’s possible your key fob is close enough to trigger some activity. I’m in a condo so the fob is a non issue for me.

Hmmm, I do live in a house and my key fob is usually in our foyer maybe 25 feet, albeit inside the house, from the ID4 parked in the driveway. I assume it wouldn’t trigger it on because if I walk up to the vehicle with my fob inside the house, I cannot unlock the car. Maybe I should relocate my fob to farther away to see if that makes a difference.

Do you have both the front and back camera, and are you using IOS? My app does not have any parking mode settings and I only have the front camera. I'm also using Android. Just curious.

Following up on my Fitcamx recording overnight, the camera records at night a few times, but not as much as it initially did (which was once every 15 minutes).

I had some back & forth with their customer support. They are shipping me a wire to replace within the camera; they also provided video instructions on how to swap out the wire. The wire has yet to arrive. I kinda wish they would have sent me a replacment rather than just the wire as it looks like a bit of a pain to swap it out. Because of that, I'm hesitating a bit whether to just let it remain as is. My only concern is that it may drawdown on the 12v battery with occasional recordings. I'll decide once it arrives...

I was pulling a clip from the dashcam today when I noticed there was recording happening overnight. It’s been recording do one or 2 minutes every hour which doesn’t make sense unless there’s something that triggers the vehicle to power on at regular intervals. This was not the case previously as far as I can remember.

My vehicle is parked two level down in an underground parkade with no cell coverage. The Parkade lights are sensor activated and the recording happen with and without the lights being on.
Let us know if the replacement cable solves this.
