I'd love to install a set in the little black panels at the outside front corners. It would be cool if VW offered an OEM set of new panels with fog lights in them to make for an easy install, or if some aftermarket company came out with a set. If it doesn't happen soon (and I kinda doubt it will) I'm thinking about cutting some holes in my car and adding a good set just to enhance my vision after dark. I've had fogs on every other car I've owned lately, mostly OEM but some that I added myself. If anyone gets around to this before I do, please post what you did and how

Thanks!

Yeah, those don't look like what I'm looking for . . . . and since they're from VW, they're probably $250 each - A bit steep for a cosmetic addition

That's another feature they left off the Pro models - Most of what I didn't get I don't really miss, but I do wish I had the better lights of the Pro S

Wait and look at salvage yards for Pro S headlights....it is only matter of enabling this in the coding menu....and touch button will work but you will have to make small sticker for wide angle fog lights.

Not enough wrecks to go hunting. Also salvage yards know how much lights are worth. If in good condition maybe 80% of OEM. Since they are rare someone has probably grabbed them up already 😕.

I'm hoping they sell enough ID.4's that an aftermarket company would be interested in designing, building and and selling a fog light kit which replaces the black panels in the front fascia. There are parking sensors in those panels already and they are vented for some reason, so it would be no small task to make what I'd like to see . . . . but, who knows?

I thought those vents were for routing air to the brakes. Someone here explained to me that they create a high pressure area in the wheel well that causes streamlining for less air resistance.
Ya' learn something here all the time 🙂.

looks like the part number is 11A941055A and 11A941056A

We did discuss this retrofit in this post.

Those are IMHO relatively cheaply made DRLs (day time driving lights) for the GTX as others say. They seem to be turned on at the same time as the headlamp DRLs and the light bar/logo in the front. The assembly has no lens to focus the light, it's more dispersed light used for DRLs. There does not seem to be a separate switch to control those (GTX owners can confirm).

The shiny trim (discussed in this post) covers portion of the assembly - surprisingly the light surface is bigger than the opening - it's a very interesting design to keep the airflow around the wheel to decrease the total wind resistance - and to keep the light visible from all angles... impressive (or over-engineered?) :)

Maybe so - It might be something as simple as creating a high pressure area which helps keep brake dust off your wheels, who knows?

They definitely don’t keep dust off your wheels! For a car that uses regen for most of its braking, it sure gets a lot of brake dust on the front wheels! (The vents are actually to create an air curtain passing over the wheels and down the side of the car, which attaches itself to the little bump behind the rear wheel to complete the effect. Laminar flow I believe is the governing theorem.)
