Bad sway bar links?

About a month and a half ago I noticed a light clunking noise coming from the front suspension in my 2023 AWD Pro S, so I made an appointment to have it checked out at the same time as the door handle recall. They found that both front sway bar links were bad and ordered new ones to be installed. Of course of the course of the month and a half, its gotten worse and louder. I'm glad they ordered the new ones of course and this is all covered under warranty, but my concern is this happening again. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm really looking forward to having my quite and smooth car back, but I don't want to have to do this every 4 months. The car is 4 months old and has 6000 miles on it, which is obviously very premature for sway bar links to go bad. If it happens again, I'm considering buying different brand sway bar links and doing it myself, but don't want to void anything on the warranty by doing that. I also don't want to have to bring it in every few months for new sway bar links. Anyone else have something like this?

Yes there are several others reporting bad sway bar links:

Yup. Just came back from the dealer. 2023 ID4 AWD Pro S. The loud rattle started last Friday. Fortunately, our local dealer (Wellesley VW in MA) was courteous enough to let us bring it in last minute for a safe check and diagnosis (hard to find any appointments in less than 2 weeks). Went for a road test with a tech (it was very easy to reproduce) then they pull it up and confirmed a bad sway bar on the driver side. Side note: I feel bad for these VW dealers with the slew of ID 4 recalls. I try to thank them and treat them as nice as possible (not their fault).

My 2023 awd has been noisy from day 1. The dealer said that the noise was coming from the cargo tray being set in the lower position. Yes, vw dealers are that stupid. Because of the noisy suspension and the dealer denying the noise, I have talked multiple people into staying away from id.4.

I just had my front stabilizer links replaced a second time when in for 40k service. First replacement was at 20k service, they've been rattling for a couple months. I guess they wear out between 15-20k miles. I should plan on replacing them every couple years 😣

I started hearing the noise a few months back after going in for the battery cell recall. Planned to wait until the 20K check to ask about it. Got another "electrical system" warning light last week and drove directly to the dealer. They finally checked it out today. Needs another cell replaced in the battery and told me the noise was due to "one of the front sway bar links on the suspension" being loose. Googled that and found this chat. Mine's a 2022 Pro S AWD at about 19K Miles.

I've kept dealing with the noise issue (had posted in one of the earlier threads referenced in second post), hopefully dealer's third time will be the charm. First they tried to replace the sway bar links, it was better at first but eventually came back. Then they replaced the anti roll bar coupling link, also seemed better at first but came back. This third time they spoke to their outside engineer and replaced the front left upper strut mount and bearing. Thankfully these have all been under warranty, but really hoping this has finally been resolved! Picking up tomorrow and will update if it's not gone...

23’ AWD Pro had the sway bar in front drivers side replaced at 6K miles, started rattling again at 10K and have to go back in, the noise is so familiar I’m sure it’s the sway bar. I drive minimally and very cautiously. This is ridiculous, I love the car, but at what point after 3 recalls and two sway bars do I start to consider this thing a lemon?

Wanted to add my name to the list of people who had to get new sway bar links today. It probably started around 20K but I decided to live with it until close to the end of the warranty. (We have 3/36 bumper to bumper, right?) In any event, I have about 27K on the clock today with my new links.

Maybe someone will make some stronger aftermarket ones someday. I’ll buy em.

Going in again for the same replacement, 10k miles after the first ones (which were at 24k). I'm guessing these are now out of warranty... It's been an excellent winter for potholes. I wonder if this can be done at home? I'll try to chat up the mechanic on the upcoming service to see what's involved.
