Thank you for this post. When comparing EVs, I like to focus on what each does well, instead of what each does not so well.I really don't give much thought to "what Tesla does". I have a VW, not a Tesla. I do know what MY VW did yesterday.
I left home at 4:00am yesterday morning with a 100% charge from my smart EVSE that charged during the night time when my rate is cheaper. The outside temp was 37F when I left. I drove 94 miles to a location with zero charging capability. 9 hours later I returned home, another 94 miles, and arrived with 14% charge left. I did not use a/c, but I did have the interior temp set to 74F for both legs and for the return and I had the cabin air cleaner system on. I had been in a dusty area all day and my nose wanted clean air. Outside temp was mid 50F for the return leg.
I'm happy with my VW. Now, what is the name of that other company? Getting old I guess, don't remember.
Not that I’m buying a Tesla anyway, but “only” 280 miles at 65 mph seems pretty good to me. And, FWIW, the waiting period for a model Y is eight months, which indicates buyers want them anyway. I’m not a fan overall, but some Tesla strengths are the software, the charging network, and the power. At least for the first two VW should get busy and copy what works there, as they are behind and not improving much.So post something....Tesla vs VW.
Here is good question?
Why Tesla EV loose so much SOC when left for days without charging.?
Why they eliminated battery coolant heater and switch to stalling rotors to make heat not quite efficient?
Why Tesla 3 is still over 50k when they have collected enough credits selling EV?
Why Tesla EV have big problem reaching EPA numbers in real life.
Why Tesla 3 long range only gets around 280 miles or less driving it with efficiency in mind and keeping it at 65 mph?
So let's conservation begin.
If EPA posts 353 miles from Tesla 3 long ( one of most efficient for battery size)range...why so many people can't get to this numbers. Not that I’m buying a Tesla anyway, but “only” 280 miles at 65 mph seems pretty good to me. Just trying to steer it in right direction.....this type of topics are always gone mad with time and more people posting experiences.Maybe its a language issue but I am being polite and honest. What part of my statement is impolite and/or dishonest? I appreciate your posts, but they can be confusing and poorly worded, and the latest list of "Whys?" about Tesla vehicles doesn't help us to understand the merits of the VWID4. Most of us either already have an ID4 on order or are driving one. We are just sharing information and opinions.
100× the CarNet app - that app is ridiculously bad. I don't expect to match the Tesla app but some basic functions would be nice (like unlock or remote start). After being a long time Tesla owner the only things I "wish" my ID.4 would do better:
- Improve the CarNet app -- let me know the kW that my car is charging at -- let me use the app to track my car and use it as a Bluetooth key
- VW should squash some bugs in the Infotainment unit , give me some UX improvements to charging and other core features of the car
- VW should work better with EA , I want plug in charging no activation required
- User profile management , I'd like to be able to more easily switch driver profiles for all car settings
- Continue to improve Travel Assist, now that I know the limitations of Travel Assist vs. AutoPilot I get it , but I want continued improvement to driver assistance features
So I'm not sure why you made this about VW vs Tesla. Let's encourage any EV rather than argue about which is better. But in response to the above:So post something....Tesla vs VW.

Why battery cells go over 60°C while fast DC charging?
Why Most powerful model Tesla S plaid is still locked to 155 MPH from promised 200+ MPH?
I do know answers to all of these above.
So let's conservation begin.
I miss TeslaFi a lot100× the CarNet app - that app is ridiculously bad. I don't expect to match the Tesla app but some basic functions would be nice (like unlock or remote start).
Opening up the API would be great as well - if only to have ABRP work better. Here is a sample of info I can get from the Tesla:

That information and what I've seen that TeslaFi and TeslaMate can do is almost enough for me to cancel my ID.4 order for a Tesla. I guess it is the data geek in me (as a young kid I would track gas mileage and odometer readings of state lines on Georgia to New Mexico road trips).Opening up the API would be great as well - if only to have ABRP work better. EVNotify is the only even kind of (barely) comparable thing on ID.4 to my knowledge. I presume no one has heard anything like this coming to the ID4, right? That the only option is EVNotify using an in car bluetooth adapter?
This not my thread it belongs to YouTube maker and I'm only happen to be first posting here.So I'm not sure why you made this about VW vs Tesla. Let's encourage any EV rather than argue about which is better. But in response to the above:
The other stuff I'm not too worried about.
- We get about 300 miles when the range on ours is 310.
- Our brand new 3 was $44k just 3 weeks ago, so I'm not sure where you're getting over $50k.
- They lose range for the systems still running. Most used Sentry mode which uses about 25-30 miles per day. But it's worth it to record everything around your car.
Just my two cents. Let's just encourage people to get EVs over ICE cars. Tesla, VW, and Ford are all making great EVs right now!
That makes my lifetime map seem pretty sad...EVNotify is the only even kind of (barely) comparable thing on ID.4 to my knowledge. Here's from our 2 former Teslas on TeslaFi:

I just noticed a few open source apps that do some of that using the WeConnect API. I know that the US Carnet is a different beast but I thought I read that the ID specific WeConnect was different from older WeConnect and that the features of WeConnectID and Carnet were similar.EVNotify is the only even kind of (barely) comparable thing on ID.4 to my knowledge.
