Gotta admit to less than zero interest in buying this individual vehicle. I do how-ever find the idea of revisiting the original "hippie bus" fascinating. I'm honestly pretty surprised that VW is going down this road with a "Retro styled EV". While I have no great memories of "the bus" as anything other than an underpowered POS.....I do accept that many people did love them and more than just a few collectors are out there today. I'm hoping the EV Bus works for VW. If I had one really serious complaint about EVs in general today it's the BLAND styling. VWs bus and if Chrysler's Retro take on the old school Dodge Charger work and sell well enough......maybe this trend of function overwhelming any small attempt to make something I'd actually be excited for would be available more often going forward.

How do they get a black car in snow to show zero dirt in a photo? Maybe they wash it on site?

I don't really care that much about the supposed connection between the old air cooled buses and the Buzz. Interesting marketing gimmick, maybe, but the ID. Buzz doesn't actually have the distinguishing features of the old buses: complete lack of performance, seating position hunched over the horizontal steering wheel with the front axle underneath you, suicide safety protection, combination of roasting in the summer and freezing in the winter, push starts because the 6 volt system isn't enough, rust**2, recurring blown out oil coolers with resulting puddles...

What I need is an EV minivan to haul people and stuff.

I think they do intend to. That original concept yellow EV Bus has white where it should to stay in keeping with the Retro theme.

I’ve had more than a dozen vw buses in my time, and sold my last T1 a a 1960 single cab - 3 years ago. I’ve also had a 1989 westfalia, a 1993 GL, and currently have a 2001 weekender. I’ve been annoyed that VWOA never imported any T5 or T6 transporters, particularly the vans and pickups. And I note that a cargo van version of the buzz is available in Europe. But likely won’t be imported to the us. So, if I do want an EV van or pickup, I’ll probably be looking at Canoo.

Once you get outside the VW space there are lots of options. Pinzgauer, etc.
