Every time I get to a full stop, I hear the brakes make that sound like I'm not braking hard enough.
Does anyone else have this issue? Is this inherent because of how heavy the car is?
I can't come to a full stop quietly without hearing a single "clunk" sound
Here's an exaggerated example:
The sound only happens at the split second to a COMPLETE stop.

Do you experience this in both D & B modes?

I have a similar experience with my ID4. Not sure if i should call the dealer. Perhaps, i will for the first check (after 30 days from what i have read). Is that right?

I also have this issue, regardless of D or B. I thought that most people were experiencing this, but maybe not? It does not matter how slowly or smoothly I come to a stop, the car will always make the slight groaning/clunking sound right before fully stopping.

I think this has been talked a little before and I have the same I. I believe that it is a part of the transition from regen braking to friction braking. If I am hard on the brakes and fully on the pads, I do not get it. Think it is just the way the system is and is not a problem

Glad to know. Like you said, no issues if you are hard on the brakes. Sound only comes on when car comes to a gradual halt and you apply brakes for a complete stop.

I think we all have the same. It's that little creak at the very end of the gradual-complete stop braking. I just take it as feedback that everything is well locked up and am reminded that there's a transition from motor "locked rotor" inertia to actual brake pad application. And of course in 'B' mode that 3 mph creep that came just prior to stop.

I have the same issue, and I also notice it when slightly lifting off the brake while backing out of my driveway. I have to keep an eye on the road so only lift slightly off the brake to back up, and it does that creaking noise while doing it at first (it doesn't keep doing it, only at first initial lift).

Most likely because brakes haven't bedded in yet. Since the brakes are hardly used it may take awhile before they bed in. Happened on my Tesla and my Volt and eventually went away. Could speed it along with some enthusiastic braking :)

I think this is the definitive answer. In my hands (well, under my foot) the creak is more pronounced when I brake gently, and just about absent when I brake enthusiastically. I have learned to "feather in" the brake pedal and push it a little harder toward the very end of the stop maneuver.
On a tangential note: I find that it helps to push the brake hard when stopped on a hill. The sort of gradual disengagement of the pads while my foot is in transit between pedals helps hold the car (or at least appears to help).

It's probably the choice of pads VW used. I drive 4 EVs in the family on a regular basis and this is the only one that does it on the transition from regen to friction brakes. Maybe there will be a TSB for it eventually with a different brake pad to correct the creaking noise.

Just tried doing this and it can be minimized if you try enough. It's not that hard.
