Curios what are people who said No bought or would buy
In the "wait for other non-ID.4 options" for me would be the coming vehicles from GM - Equinox/Blazer. Having owned a 2017 Bolt prior to the ID.4, GM left me with a favourable experience.Curios what are people who said No bought or would buy
Me too! Was just talking about that with a co-worker, I'd love the EV Blazer to be a Tahoe replacement. My employer recently put into service a fleet of Mach-Es (not for me) and have further embraced plug-in electrification with a pair each of Prius Primes and Rav4 Primes. I wouldn't object to a ID.4 but it seems "bigger is better" rules the thinking for my workgroup, so maybe we'll see some F150 Lightnings, too.In the "wait for other non-ID.4 options" for me would be the coming vehicles from GM - Equinox/Blazer. I’m a solid no. The infotainment is terrible. VW doesn’t seem committed to OTAs which is necessary for EVs.No.
If you need a reason it's the infotainment system.
It hasn't worked fully since delivery and even after buying every package under the sun, multiple dealer trips, and rude support staff my cup is full and I am ready to unload. Besides that the car is a joy to drive, haven't had any issues while driving up the mountains and in some severe climates during the winter the ID.4 performed well. However if I encounter any of the errors people are having with the 12V I will most likely jump ship especially if it's near warranty expiration.
This was my first VW and could also be my last.
1087 lbs of that 5000 lbs is due to the HV battery pack, not "low cost materials"Yes but it weights close to 5000 lbs (low cost materials).
Yes, it's lots heavier and it feels much bigger. If it feels too big it doesn't matter what the stat sheet says.Yes but it weights close to 5000 lbs (low cost materials).
I've owned 8 EVs and the VW was the only one with software problems. Granted the Fiat didn't have as many features but the Fiat was more problem free than the German built car. That was surprising.Yeah but the other car companies are also having software problems… So: if not VW, then what?
That's easy, if space is not an issue, get a 2023 Austin made Tesla Model 3 base with LFP. Need an SUV, get an EV6 in any edition except the GT. For my $$, the Telsa comes in cheaper, has better range and most importantly, disconnects you from CCS network issues. They are starting to be everywhere though, which is kind of annoying. You sort of get into the question of "If not VW, then what?".
Well you purchased first year car with lots of software problem that was slow without AWD. I would be annoyed as well but 2023 with latest software and faster with AWD is whole another story. I don't see any software issues but I mainly use AA anyway.I'm one of the few that still comes here after having sold off my 2021 RWD Pro S. I liked the driving aspect, I disliked virtually everything else about it. The bugginess, for me, got to be too much. YMMV there. I ended up getting a Volvo C40. It's hard to directly compare as they are aimed at doing different things. The software on the Volvo is light years better than the ID.4. In 5 months I have never once had the car throw an error at me. When I sit in the car the infotainment is always on and ready. I can leave my family in the car while I run in somewhere and the music keeps playing. Integrated google maps is awesome, especially in how it will tell you your charge upon arrival. Everything works, and more to the point everything works in the way one would expect not in the way that VW decided you should do.
It's tougher to compare other parts. The interior is much nicer, but it's a more expensive car. The build quality is great. And it's AWD with more HP so of course it's faster.
In a vacuum would I buy an ID.4 again? No, it's not worth 55k for what VW is delivering, or in the case of software not delivering. In 5 months my car has gotten 4 OTA updates. VW has delivered how many updates for 2021 models?
I was never a VW customer before the ID.4. It looked awesome and I tried. VW then lost me probably forever with the awful software and, um...less than forthright and clear intentions on what they intended to do to fix the inadequacies of the car.
There are couple reason why I would not purchase another ID4. For long distance driving the charging infrastructure is not working for me. For the last almost two years the FE has been in the shop four times to fix a safety issue and one other issue. It still has not been fixed. VW has told the dealer they can not fix it. I am very unsatisfied with VW and would never even consider another VW product. If not, would be interesting to hear reasons why.
I didn’t care about the slower rwd, didn’t you see above where I said I liked how the car drove?Well you purchased first year car with lots of software problem that was slow without AWD. I only mentioned it because you mentioned "And it's AWD with more HP so of course it's faster." id4 AWD is plenty fastI didn’t care about the slower rwd, didn’t you see above where I said I liked how the car drove?
But years on, not having fixed software is unforgivable. You’re right it was a first year car. But they also promised fixes. They haven’t been delivered even now when it’s 2023. Why would I ever buy from them again?
I expected I would end up with a Polestar or a C40 after 5 great years in a Volvo sedan -- in fact the ID.4 wasn't even on my radar -- but I wasn't down with the transmission hump dividing the rear floor, nor the non-shaded sunroof. My wife was actually the chief yea/nay in this purchase since it's her primary car, and despite her complaints of "I miss my Volvo" she picked the ID.4 over those two.I have no doubt that c40 has more luxury feel, but when I looked at specs before it was smaller then id.4 with half cargo space for much higher price, so there are no savings here. Id.4 at least offered better price point.
80% "yes" isn't a great indicator. if you convert this poll to net promoter score (NPS), it would be 57 - (10 + 8) = 39, which is about the industry average for car manufacturers.Still holding at over 80% yes.
same here, had to make my wife happy. I didn't show my wife C40 but I showed her ioniq5 and she preferred Id.4.I expected I would end up with a Polestar or a C40 after 5 great years in a Volvo sedan -- in fact the ID.4 wasn't even on my radar -- but I wasn't down with the transmission hump dividing the rear floor, nor the non-shaded sunroof.
