I picked up my 23 Pro S 12/16. TL
R, it has basically been in the shop since 1/5.
Upon starting the vehicle I have a red triangle, 12V and electrical system warning. It eventually clears and starts as normal again.
The first week in the shop, my local tech were not able to replicate the issue and basically handed it back to me with a shrug.
To their credit, the next time it happened, 1/13, they came to my house to see what was going on. Helped me line up the car for the tow truck (I was able to get it started and drive to the dealership after about an hour, so no tow). Since then it has basically been a series of tests and back and forth with the "tech line" and "the engineers". They charged to 100%, then drained the battery and last I head earlier this week, they sent all the data in and are awaiting next steps. Sounds like a battery module replacement.
Meanwhile, 1/17, I contacted the CEOs office to circumvent the song and dance of the formal buyback process. I received their offer last week. The details are confidential, but fair. I have an option to wait for repair, do a straight buyback or wait until JUNE for a rebuild.
My first choice would be to get my car back, but I have no idea if that is going to be another week, another month, 6 months?? I could just take my money elsewhere, but every other EV I'm looking at just doesn't do it for me (I'm looking at slightly used Audi etrons, Volvo recharge. I'm not interested in Tesla). I'm very apprehensive now about reliability and just having to go through all this again. Even if I get a rebuild in June, will it be another nightmare? I do not want another ICE vehicle. The ID.4 was, for two weeks, the best car I've ever driven. My previous was a BMW X3. So, if you were in my position, what would you do and why?
