I picked up my 23 Pro S 12/16. TL:DR, it has basically been in the shop since 1/5.

Upon starting the vehicle I have a red triangle, 12V and electrical system warning. It eventually clears and starts as normal again.

The first week in the shop, my local tech were not able to replicate the issue and basically handed it back to me with a shrug.

To their credit, the next time it happened, 1/13, they came to my house to see what was going on. Helped me line up the car for the tow truck (I was able to get it started and drive to the dealership after about an hour, so no tow). Since then it has basically been a series of tests and back and forth with the "tech line" and "the engineers". They charged to 100%, then drained the battery and last I head earlier this week, they sent all the data in and are awaiting next steps. Sounds like a battery module replacement.

Meanwhile, 1/17, I contacted the CEOs office to circumvent the song and dance of the formal buyback process. I received their offer last week. The details are confidential, but fair. I have an option to wait for repair, do a straight buyback or wait until JUNE for a rebuild.

My first choice would be to get my car back, but I have no idea if that is going to be another week, another month, 6 months?? I could just take my money elsewhere, but every other EV I'm looking at just doesn't do it for me (I'm looking at slightly used Audi etrons, Volvo recharge. I'm not interested in Tesla). I'm very apprehensive now about reliability and just having to go through all this again. Even if I get a rebuild in June, will it be another nightmare? I do not want another ICE vehicle. The ID.4 was, for two weeks, the best car I've ever driven. My previous was a BMW X3. So, if you were in my position, what would you do and why?

John makes a lot of sense to me in a similar situation:

If you want to get another ID4, I'd say go for the buy back and pick one up in existing inventory. Assuming you got the $7500 tax credit last year, you should be able to get $7500 this year also.

I would absolutely do the buyback. Wouldn't risk the potential problems and delays with the other options. Then get a new ID.4 if you still really like the car. Probably another tax credit for you too (assuming you can use it).

I did get the 7500 and considered "double dipping" it. However, only RWD in my area. I can't get out of my driveway without AWD.

The buy-back is certain.
I suggest that you take it.

Congratulations on circumventing the song and dance of the formal buyback process.
Any tips on your process?

Do a buy back. Look around in neighboring states for a AWD. There is plenty of inventory now. Spend a couple hours and you will find one. Make $7500 in a couple hours plus a day worth of travel.

How is the buyback price calculated for a "new car"? Does it include non-MSRP costs (destination, registration, sales tax)?
My car is in the shop for over 30 days. The MSRP was $47k but out of the door price $51k (+/-). Does it mean I would be losing $4k right out of the gate, plus whatever mileage was driven?

You can check your state's regulation on lemon-law buyback.
In my state, the buyback price covers everything you paid the dealer plus the taxes you paid.

Looks like you are given a second chance. Use it wisely! Take the money and buy a Model Y. You are now the envy of all the ID4 owners who saw their resale values tanking by $20k in the last few weeks.
$20k in the last few weeks? I wasn't aware there was a flood that damaged all the ID4s. $20k that's funny.
