Hello, I'm trying to figure out how to leave the car's air conditioner on while I step out of the vehicle for 10 minutes or so. It gets annoying every time I briefly get out and everything shuts down then she has to figure out how to turn everything back on. I leave my keys in the car when I do this but, it still shuts down. I've read the manual but couldn't find anything and any help would be highly appreciated!

Thx,
Tony

There's a climate control toggle that pops up on the Goodbye screen, but the start /stop button on the steering column also powers systems back up when no driver is present.
I wish I thought of this the other day. Wife was trying to feed our son in the back seat on a hot day while I was loading the car up. Getting in, getting out, opening the hatch.. etc. Would have been nice to just have the climate stay on.

So if I put the fob inside the car and tap Start/Stop twice to put the "ignition" on - the seat sensor is irrelevant? Even if the drivers door opens and closes a few times?

A Norwegian auto reviewer camps out in the ID4. He just puts a dumbbell in the drivers seat. VW really does need to do a software update providing the equivalent of Tesla’s Dog mode or Camp mode.

Is the 'immediate' climate control toggle supposed to keep things on without interruption if the driver leaves the vehicle? I still had all systems turn off when I hit that toggle as soon as I left the seat.

The only way I've found to keep things on continuously is to lift my butt off the seat before opening the door. It's... awkward. I was also then not able to turn the car off without sitting back in the seat, closing the door, opening the door, then getting out of the seat. 😀

Yep use the start button on steering column as soon as you leave the seat. Turns everything back on and keeps it running. Nope, not in manual.

Without lifting your butt, toggle your safety belt first from behind. Then the car stays online for 30 mins. Now yoy are able to move freely without turning the car off/on. It may turn off when pressing park, but can power the car immidiatly after and let it keep running

Is the door locked? I would be concerned about dog theft.

If I hit the "immediate climate control" button at the Good-bye screen it keeps the air conditioner running even after I exit the car. I am told it will run at a lower level to reduce battery draw. I have not tested how long it will continue to run so if anyone knows the answer to that, let me know. Thanks.
