I found an EVGO 50kw DC charger today which had a Electrify America label on it. I was wondering if our 3 yrs free plan work on these chargers as well? The interesting thing is the charger is not shown in the EA app at all.

Nothing like giving it a try. When you see an indication that a charge will be applied you can pull the plug (literally) and be out a buck or two, if that. And please report back, thanks.:)
I went back to try, but couldn't figure out how to use it :( even both EVgo and EA customer supports had no idea.

I really hope there will at some point be an app or super network to rule them all. Like streaming services or cable channels, I really don’t care what they’re called or who owns them (well at least to a first approximation), I just want the product with minimum fuss.

...Interestingly, it is said in EA that we should be able to use EVgo since 2019, but the customer rep seems to have no idea about this.

Huh! The way the press release reads about shared accounts, the VW promo ought to cross over...

...The roaming partnership allows drivers to charge their EVs on both EVgo and Electrify America public chargers without additional fees, using their existing accounts for a seamless experience. Drivers will be able to access public chargers on either the EVgo or Electrify America networks without having to create new memberships, registrations, or payment methods. The agreement will connect more than 3,000 DC fast chargers at more than 1,000 stations from EVgo and Electrify America,

I called Electrify America's customer service line this morning. The EA employee said there are no contracts presently between EA and EVGo.
I didn't think it was so much a contract or anything between them - I thought it was really just a unified payment architecture so the end user needed fewer apps. Whether it is still in use or not, I don't know, but I think that was the original intent.

Ha, I just tried to use this exact charger while running a quick errand there today (didn't need to charge, but saw the Electrify America logo and thought I'd give it a try). Not only did it not work with my EA account, but I also couldn't get it to work using my EVGo card. Not entirely clear why. I haven't yet tried to use any fast-charging stations, should probably go try an EA one before our first road trip.

As convoluted as it sounds, numerous EVGo chargers in the DC area were upgraded several years ago (additional stalls, newer charger models etc) as a result of the Dieselgate payouts that also corresponded with the formation of Electrify America. I have found that the upgraded EVGo chargers from this funding have the Electrify America logo on them. They are still administered only by EVGo, however.
