Canadian ID.4 Map updates for ID.4

I cannot get any proper information as to how to update my gps maps. I have seen US owners with upgraded Car Net accounts get new updates over the air. Canadian Car Net has only 1 version, mine with Rogers and is very basic. My 2022 ID.4 Pro AWD came with version 21.10. I have seen much newer versions on US cars, including over the air updates. I have emailed VW Canada and they say to go to HERE and purchase and update. I thought they were free, but went to the website provided and there is nothing for the ID.4. Going to the dealership, I get blank stares. Has any Canadian owner had any success with map updates?

I am lucky that my vehicle has operating system 3.1.

In your app, does it show an active subscription for Plus Nav?

This isn't a Rogers problem, it's Car-Net.

Call them or use the green SOS button on your overhead console. Your account wasn't provisioned correctly. They've been dealing with this a lot according to reports on this forum, and they'll know what to do to fix it.

1-833-648-2735 is the US number; I don't know if that will work for you.

Good info here from @Nai3t . You do need Plus Nav activated to get map updates. 3 years is included with car purchase in USA, not sure about Canada. It is listed on the car window sticker as a standard feature. Might take a look at yours just to be sure.

The latest Nav database is 23.2 (Feb 2023). You can check that on the car's System Information screen. This photo shows a Nav database of 22.12 (Dec 2022).

No, I have no options with Rogers in Canada.
If you tap the plan shown under "Your Current Plan" you will see the following. Those are the only services offered in Canada.

Maps can be manually updated by downloading the files to a USB stick per ID.4 manual and link below.

Yes, I have tried that. I downloaded the file and extracted it. There is no root file like the example they show on the instructions. I sat in the car with the USB stick inserted for an hour with the ignition on and nothing changed. I am going to call Carnet this morning to see what they say.

Hi, Car Net was no help at all. Called the Canadian Car Net number, they transferred me to VW Canada. I ended up in VW America who offered to transfer me to VW Canada again. At that point I gave up. When my 10 K service comes up I will dump this on the dealer. Thanks for the suggestion though.

I’ve tried everything you’ve tried about a year ago on my 2021. Best I can tell VW Canada is only paying for a carnet lite version through rogers. We can’t do wifi, internet radio, Nav updates etc. We are all running on the old carnet app as well. US has a new more capable app. Curious - can you see doors open vehicle location etc?
Yes, I can see location and door info. I can turn on climate control too and that's about it.

It's weird, I downloaded the some of the files for other regions and in all cases the tar file was smaller than the extracted content. The NAR tar file hosted on the VOA is 20GB yet when extracted the size is just short of 16GB. Yes the root folder is missing so unusable as is.

I've reached out to my dealership and haven't heard anything back yet.
I will do the same at the dealership when I get the energy.

No luck so far.

NAV is 20.07 which is July 2020.
I recently noticed now it started to show me live traffic and incidences on my car default nav and when I checked version, it shows me version 23.4, if I recall correctly, it used to be on 22.4 or something.

My car was one of the first 2023s in Canada, it arrived in first week of december and must have been built around Sep/Oct 2022, it means maps must be from before that.

What @Mrau is showing in his screen shot, in Dec 2022 it was 22.12 which goes with what I am claiming. Also from the same post 23.2 was in feb 2023.

Lets keep our fingers crossed. By the way seems like the day we received navigation OTA, it broke our location services. We can no longer see our car location on app. Carnet says talk to dealer, dealer says talk with Carnet. Everyone from East to West coast of Canada is having the issue, their car location has not been updated since April 17th. Ticket with Carnet is open, it has been more than 2 weeks without any update. Lets see what they have to say
