Looks like Premium audio, folding mirror and area view camera is affected by supply chain issue and some ID4 will be manufuctured with out these components.

I am sure there's other premium audio system they can replace it with. the lack of effort is really underwhelming. The amount deduction also doesn't seem to make sense as well.

They are already producing cars for almost 2 months now. What about those cars? are they made with or without these equipment?
May be this is hinting towards the delays in shipping the cars out to dealers and not giving a single one to the reviewers yet.
I am really disappointed too.
First software and now this? At least there is some hope that some day they will update the software but will they add these features in future if you give them $800? not possible.
If you check my attachment, premium audio, folding mirror and area view camera are deleted from MY23 ID4 all together as of CW 38 (Calendar week) which was last week. While Premium audio is no more, Folding mirror and area view will be back on CW46 (Nov 14)

"VW Canada will automatically adjust option code to match available production detail as orders begin to get scheduled for production", If I am being forced to get one with out folding mirror and area view, I am out as well.

So, if I am reading this correctly, all ID4s with a Start of Production in Calendar Week 38 (which was last week) that had ordered the Statement Package, will now NOT have the Premium Sound and will be credit $300.
And, all orders with a SOP of week 38 to 45 , that have the Statement package will also NOT have the 360 Area View and power folding mirrors, and will be credited an additional $500.
But, all orders with a SOP of CW46 (Nov 14) WILL have the 360 Area View and Power Folding Mirrors again, but still not the Premium Sound.
Am I reading this correctly?
you've got it, here's the part I am not sure of:

Okay. Thanks.

I guess that sentence means that VW Canada will change/update all pending orders' Statement Package option code from W03 (the original code) to W05 or W08, depending on the SOP date, so the dealer will be able to tell which orders will be without the Premium Sound, Area View, and Power Folding Mirrors (i.e. W05) or just without the Premium Sound (i.e. W08) .

I think
As the customer, do we have any say? the way it's worded suggested that you will just be serve with whatever.

I agree. The way in which it is worded, especially as this was a communication to the Dealers and not to the customer, would appear to suggest that this is just what is going to happen.
So, the dealers will then have to explain to the customer that their order, with the requested Statement Package (W03) has been changed to a Statement Package without the Premium Sound (W08) OR a Statement Package without the Premium Sound AND the Area View and Power Folding Mirrors (W05).
I do not think that a customer will have any choice in the matter, unless they can convince their dealer to see if they can try to change the SOP from CW38 - CW45.
But I think that that is a pipe dream because I do not think any dealer has any control over the VW factory timelines.
Admittedly though, I have near zero experience working in automobile sales 🤷‍♂️
So much to have me pick my options early in August. looks like other member from the US is also seeing things removed from vw.com.

I wondered if it also affected US orders.

And I just noticed that the Canadian Buyer's Guide for the ID4, which is dated Sept 19, no longer mentions the Power Folding Mirrors or the Premium Sound, but still mentions the Area View as part of the Statement Package.
People with US orders are saying that some of the exterior colour and cosmic interior got removed from the website. They have also noticed some reduction in price for certain models.

As of the buyer's guide don't take it too seriously.
It still mentioned Florence brown dashboard and Variable center console, with exchangeable inserts, which is no more on 2023 model.
Premium audio = digital sound package and subwoofer.

I am also in favor that VW must be punished for the way they are treating their customers but cancelling the orders will not help at this point. They have so many orders with them, they don't even care about taking new orders since 1st March 2022, just how much potential sales did they loose during this time. On top of that, they never opened their business to other Canadian Provinces, just imagine how many potential sales they are still loosing. Lets say even 20% of their orders get cancelled, will they worry? Nope. They will be able to clear the backlogs faster and if they don't have enough orders after that, then they will start opening doors to new provinces. If recession comes, that will effect all car sales not just VW or just EVs.

From that insider info from reddit suggested, they are trying to achieve about 2500 cars a month capacity at Chattanooga plat, there must be more than 2500 VW dealerships in North America, if each dealer can sell 1 ID4 per month, that will be enough to get production going for VW and they also have other models on same assembly line, so they can produce other cars more if needed. People forget about their bad experiences soon, look at all of us, we are here even after that dreadful diesel gate sandal, I know many of users of this site were impacted still they are back with VW.

According to me, if there is any legal way or some kind of government intervention, it can be more impactful than just cancelling the orders.
Founded in 1955, VWGoA’s headquarters are in Herndon, Va.; the company has approximately 6,000 employees in the United States and sells its vehicles through a network of approximately 1,000 independent dealers.

But if they do that, delay will go on customer.
I mean, if you are going to keep car suppose for 8 years, what would you like to do. get $200 off and not get 360 camera and live without it for 8 years in 60+k car or wait a couple of months more and get full feature car?
Even if you want to sell your car earlier what would new buyer prefer? A car with 360 camera or $100-200 cheaper car without 360 camera? Omission of camera will take even bigger hit on price without 360 Camera.
Exactly, iff I am to buy an used ID.4 in 8 years, I will definitely avoid the one without area view and folding mirror. As the VWOC letter suggested that "dealer will need to confirm package detail in OMD as orders begin to migrate from wait list", I have already told my dealer that I only want W08 $4700 SOP CW46/22 so hopefully my dealer can note my preference in OMD.

On another note, US orders recently locked shows a delivery date of December to January and since none of our orders are officially locked, I won't be surprised if there's only a small amount of Canadian orders affected by the lack of 360 camera and folding mirror. Now I am hoping Chattanooga focus all of their 2022 capacity for US order for the soon to be expire full $7500 USD tax credit.

Hi all,

I'm planning to order Id4 Pro RWD with statement package in Quebec. However, by selecting my current dealer, I saw the Pre-Tax Dealership Charges (899) including marking & also a dealer administration fee of 399. Is there any way to avoid this fee?
Try a different dealer, I think they are all different.

I have the same feeling, only a handful of ID4s will be effected by parts shortage in Canada as they will prioritize US deliveries till Dec. That is what I mentioned a few times in my previous posts as well.
These price reduction VW determined is pretty stupid.
If you compare the US configure it's easier to understand.
Between Pro S and Pro S plus.
Price different is 2450 USD so roughtly 3350 CAD.
Black paint roof and silver roof. 500 CAD (CA order price)
Area view & folding mirror. 500 CAD (CA reduction price)
Heated rear seat (($3350-$500-$500)/2)
Three zone climate (($3350-$500-$500)/2)

So VW is saying that heated rear seat and three zone climate is worth $2350 which is pretty bull shit. They might as well say is $1 for premium audio, $1 for Area view and $1 for foldng mirror.

You all bitch and moan but you are going to buy anyways. We are going into a recession. Anybody realize this? Magna and Linamar are expecting a hard landing for the economy.... these 2 are getting completely destroyed. They are reflecting what is coming for the auto sector.
Do you already have an ID 4 or if you have one on order? If not, why are you here?

t ignore him. Did you see no one even replies to him?
Yah. And you guys pretend we aren’t headed into a big recession. I got a very good deal on the X1. It’s going to end up being 15k less than what the ID4 costs. And how long have you been waiting Sam? You seem to have an excuse for everything. 90 pages of responses and you keep making excuses. And how much did Brampton up charge you on extra fees? Guess what, I’m not paying any. And I got a discount. Remember those crazy times when people got discounts?

Thing is, I was offered an i4 by Dec as well. It’s my choice. Why? Because my contact at BMW HQ arranged the deal. Unlike crappy VW playing games with everybody. VW is dicking all of you guys around while the economy is about to go into the shitter and you are getting upset with me for telling you? LOL. Ok.
It's great that you have a contact at BMW HQ for an X1 cause I don't. Are you able to hook us all up on one? If not, you should probably move on and start browsing and posting on bimmerpost.com instead. Congraulation on your new bimmer.

FYI, with 15k cash in hand and assuming gas is $2/litre
Mileage of BMW X1 is roughly 15KM per litre so you are good for roughly 112,500 km there.
Yes there's a recession coming, I just don't see how your car purchasing decision any better than anyone of us especially when no one can even copy your formula.

Assuming 2 dollars a litre when it’s 1.48 and going down? Ok.

I realize people aren’t able to replicate my formula, but what I’m saying is, don’t sit back and just accept the BS from VW. The whole sector is quickly reversing. My buddy, who bought an Audi S3 just as the pandemic was starting, is a shark. He saw the tides turning and He seriously low balled the dealership and held his ground. He got an incredible deal. Who knows, maybe EV prices stay high right through this recession but I doubt it.

it just feels like the auto sector is where the real estate sector was in Feb. At the peak.

I just think people need to be flexible and not fall in love with buying any specific car. You end up waiting forever and paying through the nose for it.
Lol I though I was being generous. Here’s in Vancouver we are now looking at $2.30 a litre for 87.

I blocked the poster in questions weeks ago, got tired of his odd rants but I applaud your detailed response SAM. I’m actually fairly confident he’s posting in other EV forums, and really has no interest in EVs at all, his actual goal is to dissuade others from buying EVs. Not certain but it appears that way.
Thank you very much for the blocking recommendation. Never knew when you block someone you also won't see any of the person's post. I would highly recommend @serious.sam.4all to do the same.

10-12 months? I ordered in Feb, I joined this forum on feb. how does it make it 10-12 months? What did you tell months ago which I was speculating? What revolutionary info did you share if you did any from VW HQ?

For Bramgate, in your quoted post, I am saying I would not recommend if I went through your experience, if you know how to read.

I know info is always good. Did people made you realize housing market is going to go through tough times? I hope it was your own thinking and knowledge. Same like that you dont need to remind people each and every time about same thing over and over again. People are not stupid.

Today all cars are amazing, get the one which you can get your hands on. You can not go wrong with any cars today. Including Ioniq5, EV6, Q4 and many more. It comes to personal preference on looks and features.

Everyone including me are talking about ID4 flaws, there are no issues in discussing it but you are just repeating same thing, cancel your booking recession is coming. How is that showing id4 flaws?

Again if you can read, go and check my older posts. I like Audi Q4 interior more than ID4, its a solid car. If you want to spend more, sure go ahead and get it. Give it to me at ID4 price, may be 5k higher and I would take it today. BTW can you tell me how Top end ID4 has much lower specs than Top line Q4? As far as I know Q4 has no Driver/Passenger messaging seats. In my opinion both have about same features, obviously Q4 has more premium interior.
Being a 2013 Hyundai Elantra owner who had the engine completely rebuilt 2 years ago, I am actually trying my best to avoid Korean cars so Ioniq5 and EV6 is a no go for me.

It all depends on what’s important to you. List below is not inclusive.

New on the 2023 statement
360 camera
heated rear seats
3 zone climatronic
illuminated front and rear badges
digital sound with subwoofer

No longer in Statement
glass roof
20” wheels

I would be happy with what‘s in the 2023 Statement package myself if I was buying a 2023. the glass roof and heat pump would be other options I would add.
Digital sound with subwoofer is no more in 2023 statement package.
360 camera and folding mirror also going to be obmitted until Nov 14.
check about 4 pages back.

It is hard to estimate, depending on where you live and what is the temperature. Heat pumps are very efficient from -15 to +15c.
If you do frequent short trips in cold weather, I would say its a must, as each time you start your car in very cold temperature, it will require a ton of energy to heat up the battery and cabin and you will see a lot of energy savings during normal winter months (except extreme cold days).

Heat pumps are about 300% more efficient (as advertised but debatable) than resistive heating at above mentioned temperatures.

You can check this thread to get better idea, also try to play around with ABRP. Enter environment and speed values and see what it shows. Many people say its very accurate.

I live in GTA, with heat pump I can go and come back from Niagara falls without charging during winters, without HP its not possible. According to my calculations, at $1500 it may not recover my money for more than 10 Years with current Electricity prices but the convenience of not charging or that extra few km, may be worth the extra cost some times. If electricity prices goes up, it may recover the money even faster.
The way I look at it is that the heat pump will also prolong the life of my battery. Seems to be a good investment to me if 8 years down the road my battery can have a few extra remaining percentage compare to without the heat pump.
