I told my local Toronto dealer that I'll just wait until they have a demo. I hope they have a AWD demo as that's the one I'd be interested in. Other than the ID4 the Ioniq 5 or the EV6 look really appealing. Depending on the price point I might go for one of those. Ford kind of blew it with the Mach E as they made the base price over 50k which means it's not eligible for the Fed rebate. I suspect Nissan is going to do the same with the Ariya. And the Tesla's are poorly built and over priced. (As a side note, my in law who's living in LA told me the price of his Model Y and I quickly did a conversion to Canadian dollars and realized they jacked up the price 11k bucks on the Model Y on top of the converted price. There's no import duty as the car is made in the US. Sneaky Tesla.). Anyways, the ID4 AWD with statement is 58k or 53k with the rebate and the Model Y is 74k with a colour and the larger wheels so it's 21k more than the ID4.

I never got called for a test drive here in Toronto. I guess it was for people with deposits only. Also, I'm just interested in the AWD version so maybe they figured no point in calling me.

That old MK2 was the best looking Golf. Awesome!! I loved the old Lancia Integrale too.

All of these EVs are being delayed. Ioniq 5 is delayed, Ariya even having a longer delay. I did notice Audi putting the price of the Q4 on their website. Starting at 60k, progressive is 65.3k, Techniq is 68.3k. No Fed rebate.

BMW i4 40 starts at 55k which I thought was quite aggressively priced. The premium package is 7900 bucks so you really are looking at 63k.

I'm thinking of leasing for the first time in my life and I noticed the VW lease for a ID4 AWD with statement is the same lease price as a Tesla 3 AWD. the VW is 53k after the rebate and the Model 3 is 72k. Does anybody else find the lease deal really expensive relative to it's price??

In Jan-Feb you should still be OK. The Federal rebate isn't scheduled to change until March 31st at the earliest according to the government's website (and it might be extended, who knows). Which province are you in? It seems that your waiting time is less than mine (6-7 months); in Quebec it's apparently 10-11 months according to my dealer.

It will indeed be interesting to see what the parties are thinking!
wow delivery in June of next year? That's kind of crazy. Ioniq 5, Airya and the EV6 will be available by then. Apparently the ID4 AWD will be available for test drives near the end of November, as will the Ioniq 5 AWD, here in Ontario. Now that I've seen the BMW i4 40 starting at 55k it's also in the mix for me if the leasing rates are good.

Am I missing something, but the leasing rates on the ID4 seem really expensive compared to Tesla.

I'm in Ontario, but who knows when the car will be here really.

I was told late November for the AWD ID4 here in Toronto. Also, Doug Ford needs to call an election before June 2nd 2022. I can't see Ontario providing an EV rebate until after that election, and that's only if the Liberals or NDP win.

I wouldn’t count my chickens till they hatch… pricing has yet to be announced and unless one has an early reservation for any of those models potentially lengthy delays should be expected. EV are very popular right now with the price of fuel and rebates. We average over $1m weekly in rebate disbursement in BC so there’s a strong demand.
Yah I wish Ontario still had an EV rebate. Quebec and BC's provincial rebates are really generous!

It seems like a race to NOT to market for all of the OEMs. LOL. ID4 AWD, Ioniq 5 AWD, EV6 AWD, Ariya AWD all delayed.... I would even consider a BMW i4 40 RWD as I know somebody who works for BMW and he might be able to get me a good lease. I suppose that's what it comes down to is the lease price pre month. The 5k dollar federal rebate would be great but that high interest rate for VW seems to make that mute when comparing lease costs.

Ha, you guys are like international spies. You should have a live feed camera at the port! LOL. I wonder when the dealers will start getting their test cars so I can actually drive the AWD version.

Yah I was told, about a month ago, by a dealer here in Toronto that demo cars will be avail in late November or early December. It would be great to see the Ioniq 5 and it's prices around the same time. For me the Mach E isn't in the running as they didn't price it to get the rebate. And the Ariya? That seemed to disappear of the face of the earth.

Getting excited for all of you guys! I can't wait to hear all of your impressions of the AWD version. I haven't ordered anything yet as I'd like to drive the Ioniq 5, EV6 and ID4 AWD back to back then decide. The Canadian car show will be back on in Feb I believe so maybe that would be a chance to drive a bunch of EVs back to back. I suspect I'll be waiting a looong time to get my next car. Hope my old Audi will hold out. ;)

Happy to hear faster charging rate of 135kw is coming!

You can see the new 3.0 software in that video (approx 6:00 - 8:00)
Still seems a bit laggy.
Presenter says “it won’t win any prizes against Tesla or Polestar” but it seems better than before (not a high bar).

I think they will release 175kw charging later in 2022 for a subscription fee - although I think they would win over more customers if they just gave us this without a fee. In order to stay competitive against Tesla & Chinese brands, VW is going to have to come to this fight w/ better tools!
175kW charging will be dependent on the hardware. I think that's quite a jump. Maybe 150kW might be in the works after they see how the system handles 135. I'm just happy to see continuous progress on the software front. Hopefully every 2 months new features, improvement in performance etc.

This is exactly what I thought at first, too. But a source w/ relationship to VW engineering recently spilled the beans on 175kw charging being unlocked, likely in 2022. I’ll believe it when I see it. North American ID4 still has not received any update, not even “Auto hold” (no creep in B mode) which is out in Europe. I really hope 3.0 comes soon and offers some features that will make ID4 competitive against other EVs.
ahhh interesting. thanks.

well Hyundai came out with their prices for the Ioniq 5 with the long range AWD priced from 57k to 62k. Not sure which trims get the 5k dollar Fed rebate. ://www.hyundaicanada.com/en/coming-soon/2022-ioniq-5/pre-order

the 57k dollar version has19" wheels and no sunroof. This is making the ID4 AWD with statement a very attractive proposition unless Hyundai gives a good deal on financing. The Model 3 AWD is 66k and the Model Y AWD is 76k now. Q4 progressiv trim is 65k. Sorry why buy a Model Y??? It's not worth it.

'cuz it's a "Tesla" ... wink lol.... same principle I believe as people who have a Bentley/Rolls Royce... just cuz. :D
yah, I hear that a lot. I drove the Model 3 just before we locked down in Feb of 2020. It was quick but I couldn't stand the 1 screen does everything including opening the Glove box.

Re: the rebate, I think VW created that huge 8k dollar package to have their top AWD model included in the Fed rebate. Hyundai didn't do that so I'm curious which versions will get it. It's not coming until mid of next yr anyways according to their website.

That Moonstone grey is a really unique colour. I like it a lot. Congrats! Thought of driving to downtown Toronto and giving me a test drive?:unsure:
