I know we’re not going to see deliveries till September and I can’t wait to get mine in… :)

Spoke with my sales rep today and he mentioned orders aren’t locked in yet, that is they can still be modified. Once they are locked in we’re probably looking at 60-90 days before the first units arrive on the west coast.

Ordered the Silver Pro RWD with Statement Package and grey interior. Apparently I’m in the first 10 orders at the dealership so I’m hopeful I’ll be driving it sooner than later.

Anyone else placed an order in Canada? What did you get?

I should have mentioned I’m in BC. it’s kind of weird here, some dealerships on the VW list aren’t mentioning the ID.4 at all on their site. At leas it was the case last time i

For sure Ontario will get deliveries shortly after QC and BC as they are one of the largest markets in the country.

On another subject, the id insider Facebook page has 2 reviews of it on Canadian soil! Must be those units recently photographed at the VW HO.

No idea, my rep mentioned a lot of peeps are waiting to test drive before placing a firm order. I’m supposed to be something like 8-9 out of maybe 15. It’s not like they want to make accurate orders known since it could impact their bottom line.

Did you get the statement package?

Ioniq 5 and EV6 look interesting, and while pricing has yet to be announced I would not be surprised if the entry models where priced above the $45k threshold. The base ioniq is listed at $41.5k with a 38.3kWh battery, twice the battery size and looks like an expensive looking interior could push the base to the $50k range.

As for Tesla... They have been the major beneficiary of the EV rebates here in Canada with around 1/3 of the $300M federal funds. I agree their build quality is substandard for the price range, and while it seem they employ a team of talented software developers they put too much emphasis on 0-100KM and unnecessary "features" imho. Electric vehicle are basically run by software, do you really want some Easter egg to potentially interfere with the vehicle while doing 120KM on the freeway...

Running for cover... :D

I'm hoping they are under promising and over delivering... :) A friend of mine got her e-golf delivered a month ahead of schedule, could very well be due to cancellations or low demand.

I agree the chip shortage could have an impact on deliveries and hopefully they already factored that in since if I remember correctly they initially were saying summer for deliveries then late summer which is September. And the AWD which was supposed to come later now has been moved to an earlier release date. Having said that, the dealerships seem to not have much info on what's going on. On day it was nope we're not ordering AWD and the next they are asking if you want to change your order.

I'm still on the fence for the AWD, it was my initial choice and then went with the RWD due to higher range, lower cost and unknown availability. Now should they have both when mine arrives I could reconsider.

Thanks! That video is great, very informative on how the RWD handles on the snow.

Now, on any day where we end up with enough snow in the lower mainland that you can’t make your trek without proper snow tire I would probably stay home even if I had the AWD.

Another review from Canada. This one seems to highlight a lot of what has already been reported in this forum. They seems to be quite unimpressed with its acceleration which for many is unlikely to be an issue. Their biggest annoyance was with the piano black finishing which some peeps here have resolved with vinyl wrap.

One thing worth mentioning is this is a US vehicle being reviewed, not the Canadian model with heat pump and heated windshield. Probably means the vehicles spotted at the VW head office in Ontario late april are US models as well.

Another Canadian review with an interesting twist. In the closing remarks around the 25 minutes mark he states it will be available in July-August in QC and BC.

Mine said no demo whatsoever since all of them are to be sold with a huge waiting list... I'm in QC and dealer in Boucherville. Gotta talk with another one see what they say.
i suspect the “demos” they are sending will be the same US vehicles they brought over weeks ago. Wouldn’t make sense to alter production lines just for a few Canadian vehicles.

Interesting sidenote -- the VW car transport ship "Goodwood" arrived in Halifax yesterday (6/21) and has already dropped off whatever was on board for Canada. It's now already on its way to its next port in the US (Davisville, RI.)
Been tracking it for a while. Siem Confucius is due in Emdem June 26 and Siem Cicero July 2. At least one of the 2 should stop in Halifax by mid July.

Someone posted a screen shot on the ID Insider Facebook of their order in the VW system. It shows the order was sent to the factory May 20 and probable arrival of September 9. The order was not locked in at the time so that may have changed.

Looks like we have 4 ships arriving in Halifax over the next 60 days. The Goodwood seems like it would be the most likely ship to arrive on time for September deliveries. The SIEM Confucius is scheduled for early September which would delay deliveries till late September to early October for west coast buyers.
