Placed my factory order at the start of July for a Moonstone Grey RWD Pro w/ Statement Pkg and Lunar Grey interior at Clarkdale (aka Vancouver Volkswagen). We’ll see if the claimed Sept/Oct delivery will happen 🤞. Dealer told me the first batch of orders have not been submitted yet, but mine will be in the first group of ID.4s delivered to Vancouver.

Just wrapped up my test drive and heard the same re: October delivery for RWD 🤞… didn’t hear that orders are locked in though, that’s promising!

Really happy with the interior quality (except the piano black trim which I’ll definitely be getting wrapped) and the peppy driving dynamics!!

Definitely feeling good with my decision to lock in a factory order.

Is anyone aware if the Car-Net app (available in the U.S.) will be available for Canadian ID.4s for things like pre-conditioning, charge scheduling and other remote vehicle controls (lock/unlock etc)? I know they have another app that enables this for VWs in Europe, but have heard conflicting things online about whether this will be available in Canada. Currently no Canadian VWs come with telematics enabled apparently.
Really hope they enable it in Canada!

Just got an update this morning from my sales rep.

“At this stage we’ve been updated that the vehicles showing up in our first shipments will be entering production very soon so it will still be a few more weeks at minimum before any of our vehicles complete production status and are on their way to Canada.”

That seems to align with the late October to mid November delivery I’ve seen on my order.

We can always hope this is inaccurate and the vehicles are on the soon to arrive Siem Confucius but it’s not looking good.
Would you mind sharing which dealership / sales rep you’re dealing with?

I reached out to my rep earlier this week at Clarkdale (aka Vancouver VW now) to see if there was an update on delivery estimates and haven’t even got a response yet. It’s been radio silence since I put in my deposit for a factory order… not sure if the ownership change there has something to do with it, but gotta say I’m underwhelmed by their service/responsiveness so far as a new customer.

My order is with Vancouver VW and I’ve had mixed results getting updates in the past.

When did you order? I put a $1k refundable deposit in April just to be on the list with my position being 43rd…. Put down an order with total $3k down in May and I’m in 8th place which means mine is in the first batch they will receive.

If you’re not in the first batch it could be months like in 2022 before you get yours which could be why the sales rep is less responsive. Not an excuse as they should at least acknowledge your inquiry.
Thanks for sharing. I placed my order with the $3k non-refundable deposit in late June. I haven't been told what number I am on the list, but I was assured mine would be in the first shipment of ID.4s delivered to Vancouver (before putting down a non-refundable deposit I wanted to make sure I would actually be getting a car!)

I'm really surprised how much variation there seems to be in what people are being told (some people have been given production dates and VINs) - it seems to vary from dealer to dealer and rep to rep even, when they should all have access to the same info. The fact we don't even have an order tracker for Canadian orders like VW has in the States is a bit strange. Not a great customer experience to be left in the dark for months!

Hopefully I'll hear back from my rep soon, otherwise I'll follow up with someone else at the dealership.

Just got some great news from my dealer here in the lower mainland today, my ID.4 (AWD Pro S) is on the ship that left Emden on Nov 18!!

Obviously due to the devastation caused by the flooding in the Fraser Valley they’re not able to guarantee a delivery date, but they’re hopeful it will be before the end of December… we’ll see!

Of course I’m more concerned about the folks who have been displaced by the floods being taken care of and people getting the food and essentials they need than I am about when my car will get here, but this was a bit of surprise good news today.

Congrats! Your sig says RWD, did you change your order at one point?
Haha, yes I caught that after I posted and updated.
I’d originally ordered a RWD with the understanding it would be delivered much sooner than AWD.

Back in October my dealership let me know that RWD production for Canada was being scaled back considerably and they couldn’t estimate when, if ever, I may actually get my vehicle as spec’d. It may have just been an upsell tactic, but after seeing reviews of the AWD model coming out I decided I wanted to upgrade anyways (especially now that AWD models are supposed to deliver sooner than RWD).

For reference I went for the “non-refundable” $3k factory-order deposit option back in June.

I am, ticked off at Ford with his EV policy. ON only gets $5000/$0 Fed./Prov. rebates vs BC $8000 vs QC $13000.

Let's hope they will arrive at the dealers sooner than later.
You’re right to be ticked off. Hope you help vote Ford out of office this year and elect a government that supports clean energy and EV incentives (among many other progressive things)!!

Well, our 8 month wait finally ended this Thursday!
Took delivery of our Pro S AWD in Vancouver and couldn’t be happier with it.

Particularly happy with how the Moonstone/Lunar combo looks in person (took a bit of a leap ordering that combo sight unseen) and how it picks up a bit of a blue-grey tint in some lights.

After a few frustrating bumps during the order and sales experience, the delivery went super smoothly and quickly at the dealership. Appreciated that they got us set up with the Car-Net and Electrify Canada apps before we hit the road too.

I’m SO glad we waited it out and got the ID.4 instead of a Tesla or Polestar last year. Feels much better quality than the Tesla Model Ys I’ve driven and MUCH better value than the Polestar 2 I test drove (which are about $30k overpriced IMHO).

Definitely worth the wait!
And now to plan our first road trip…

Same!
Let’s see how long before we mix up our cars while parked in the same lot 😂

Glad you’re enjoying yours too!

Congrats! I was wondering who else ordered the other moonstone/lunar that was on the truck. I’ve had mine for a week and it’s been outstanding.

Transport Canada report says undersupply continues to be a recurring problem for EV adoption
Interesting they chose to survey dealerships and not potential customers… seems like they’d get better data on potential adoption by asking the people who might buy an EV rather than the dealers trying to (or trying not to as the case may be) sell them.

do you mind sharing what the wait was from the time it hit Halifax until when you got it (please and thank you)? If you have that info of course.
Sure thing!
It arrived in Halifax on the SFL Conductor on Nov 27.
I got a call on Jan 5 from the dealership in Vancouver that they were expecting it in 1-2 weeks and one week later (Jan 12) I got the call it would be ready next day. I picked up on Jan 13. So 6ish weeks from Halifax to my garage?

I’ve heard there was ID.4 waiting for parts in Halifax as well. Didn’t know it was for a recall though. There was something similar last year in the US, seat belt issue or headlights ajustements or something else, where vehicles were held at the port of entry for a while.
I wonder when those of us who have already taken delivery will be notified of the recall so that we can get our heat pumps fixed/replaced - if there is in fact a recall on those 🤔
