New member here! Just reserved an ID.4 AWD Statement package in Montreal. The dealer told me the delivery will be in ~June 2022 due to the current backlog.

I hope the Quebec and Federal subsidies will still be in place. The $5K federal subsidy is currently scheduled to expire on March 31st 2022 if it's not renewed, and the $8K Quebec subsidy could be "adjusted" after this date...

Hey Cinergi,

I'm also concerned about the rebates expiring or getting tossed in this upcoming election...

I ordered in July, and am expecting to see it in Jan-Feb. I really hope I get it in time before the expiry.

I am curious to see what each party is thinking with regards to EV rebates, if any.

In Jan-Feb you should still be OK. The Federal rebate isn't scheduled to change until March 31st at the earliest according to the government's website (and it might be extended, who knows). Which province are you in? It seems that your waiting time is less than mine (6-7 months); in Quebec it's apparently 10-11 months according to my dealer.

It will indeed be interesting to see what the parties are thinking!

I tried it a few days ago; it found 2 AWD Pro Statement vehicles in my area (Montreal), but not the color I want (Dusk Blue). Now those 2 vehicles are both gone, so I guess the system is working. I'll keep looking in case something comes in before my actual reservation (reserved in August 2021, is supposed to come in June-July 2022 but who knows with everything going on...)

I assume all ID.4s appearing on VolksKlick for the foreseeable future will be customer refusals.

Talked to dealer today. No new orders being taken. My July order won’t arrive before Sep-Nov from USA. Config will be changing eg no electric tailgate because parts unavailable. Price increase TBD, so am looking at my options. 9000 Cdn back orders and VW Can is auditing them for dupes etc.
Wow, that sucks. Will the parts for the electric tailgate be added post-delivery (like Ford with the rear climate control on the Explorer), or it simply won't be available anymore?

Coles notes:
Federal rebate extended. $56M remaining
Considering Used EV rebates

I'm #18 at my dealership and they've only received about 4 orders, so I'm hoping to get mine by summer. Who knows

Hopefully VW won't raise the price for 2022/2023 models. The current base price of $44,995 is only $5 away from the IZEV program's $45K maximum cost limit.

On the french version of the page, we can read a special note about the Heat Pump:
FR: "Tous les véhicules seront livrés avec l'ensemble thermopompe jusqu'à la fin de 2022. Le prix de l'ensemble est inclus dans le PDSF indiqué."
EN: "All vehicles will be delivered with the heat pump package until the end of 2022. The price of the package is included in the MSRP indicated." (translated)
I can't find that statement on the French site; could you please provide a link? Good news if true.

I noticed that there's no mention of the LED projector headlights with the Statement package, like for the 2021-2022 models. However, the pictures still show the projectors. I hope this means we're still getting them instead of the default LED reflector headlights.

FWIW, our order was in May 2021, converted to 2023 model in August 2022. Current ETA is officially: Not Available. (Before that it was November, and before October, and before September, and before July, and before... generally 1-2 quarters away.)

Unofficially, the dealership's current vibe is "Spring 2023". We were in the first order batch for our dealership. That said, this is Ontario which is generally far behind BC/Quebec.
Mine was in August 2021, converted to 2023 model in September 2022 in Quebec. Dealer says that ETA is now April-May 2023. Pro AWD with Statement and glass roof. Overall, the entire process has taken much longer than I thought, and frankly, had I known this from the start I may have selected another option like Tesla. Even now, Tesla is showing November-December 2022 delivery for a Model 3 ordered now. Not the same thing, I know, but comparable price. Between now and April-May 2023, interest rates will continue to increase and the Quebec rebate may be reduced from its current $7K level after March 31st (just like it was reduced last year from $8K to $7K). It's very frustrating.

I dont own Emporia EV charger yet but its on top of my list. I don't think there is any deal on Emporia EV charger but their rates are very competitive. For 729 you get smart EV charger vs 650ish for dumb Grizzl-e charger so Emporia is no Brainer as per me. They are UL certified, weather rated and cable stays flexible in extreme cold.

Also when you are buying 50-60k car, spend 100-200 extra and get the charger you like. Look at state of charge channel, they have amazing, detailed reviews.

All the best for your search.
This is the one I'm planning to get as well, when my car is finally close to arriving in Spring 2023 (maybe ). The Smart features seem a lot more polished than on the Grizzl-E Smart which is $700, so only $29 cheaper. You can enter your local utility rate, and it lets you see the cost of each charge and the charging current over time in the app, if you're into nerdy stats like that (I am :)). Subjectively, it also looks nicer than the Grizzl-E.

Just a heads up, Capilano VW in North Van told me about a week ago that all and any waitlists have been amalgamated into one giant list for VWoC. I asked for explanation and was given this scenario.

Example:

-Person 1 new orders a MY23 Sept 1st
-Person 2 get their MY22 converted to MY23 Sept 4th

Person 2 is treated like a new MY23 order and goes after Person 1.

Supposedly this happened about a week ago
Wait... So you're saying that it's not the date of the original reservation that matters, but rather the date when it was converted to a 2023 model? So if I reserved my ID.4 in August 2021 and got a Comm number (which I did), and converted to a 2023 on Sept. 9th 2022 (which I also did), anyone who converted to a 2023 before me anywhere in Canada gets priority, regardless of their original reservation date? If so, that sucks and pushes me (and others in my situation) further down the list...

When did the conversions to 2023 model start?

I'm wondering if @Plant Peon would be able to tell us whether any Canadian cars are currently being built at Chattanooga, and what trim levels? As I recall, back in November he (she?) indicated that cars with heat pumps weren't being built at the time, which I guess excludes Canadian builds.

I'd also be interested to know if the parts shortages regarding the 360-degree view and folding side mirrors have been resolved.

Is anyone else super pleased that, apparently, our friends south of the border can rock up to a dealer and just buy a car off the lot now while 2023s are still imaginary here?
Yes, it's great ...

Honestly, if I had known how all of this would play out when I reserved my 2021 model in August 2021, I would have bought a Tesla Model Y instead. The price at the time for an AWD Long-Range was ~$68-69K as I recall, and I would have had it within a few months. Now the same configuration is $85K , with delivery within 1 week for inventory models (of which there seem to be plenty available, at least in QC)... And everyone is still waiting for their ID4s... Sucks to be us.

I checked in with a few EV dealerships a couple of months ago too, generally same sentiment from Hyundai (Ioniq 5, Genesis GV60, even KONA!), Kea (EV6), even the higher-end Audi/Volvo variants -- all new orders are realistically 2 years out in Ontario. Most aren't even taking new orders anymore because the timelines are so far out. I got the vibe that Ford Mach-E might be available sooner but not personally interested.

Reading between the lines, guessing they're all suffering from similar component shortages, and/or similar misallocation of shipments to Canada vs US.
Indeed, I performed a similar survey of local dealerships in Montreal QC. The only vendor whose lead time is currently not in the 18-24 month range is Tesla, which has inventory vehicles available for immediate delivery and custom factory orders within 3 months.

Too bad the Model Y is so expensive now, otherwise it would be a very attractive option - perhaps the most attractive.

Hopefully! Though now I'm worried the dealer screwed up my order somehow, since several people on the forum who ordered after me have already gotten their vehicles in the last few weeks. Not in Quebec though - not sure if that matters.
