Reason it happens with Hyundai is because they have non refundable deposit, that too 3k.

I went to test drive it before I ordered id4, it ended up horrible experience from dealer's end. At that time they told me I have to pay 3k non refundable deposit to book it. According to them they are doing it because many people book it and never take delivery so hyundai want to deliver confirmed orders only. Which kind of makes sense to me as long as they don't raise the price.

This 3k deposit trap does not apply in BC.

Actual pre-order deposits where available up until mid January. It was possible directly through the Hyundai Canada website and at dealers. Since mid January, dealers have their own waiting lists, but it isn’t an actual pre-order deposit with Hyundai. The deposit with Hyundai is 500$ and fully refundable.

I went for test drive in mid Feb, so it must be their internal list but this is what they told me

Here in Ontario my dealer took 500 and fully refundable. But he was not ready to cancel and was suggesting I sell back when I get my car. But it's dealer list not Hyundai list.

Anticipate a 12- 16mth wait. That's just being real with you. As for Montreal, I am not aware of what dealer does what. I am across the country. Go to vw.ca, input postal code. Dealers will pop up in relation to it. You can call each dealer and ask, but that's where you would put an order in. Dealer submits to VW. Hope this helps and fee free to read through the forums also.

I am in Ontario so can't recommend any dealer in Montreal but as @GriefHammer suggested check through VW.ca.

As far as we know dealers are not given priority for order, all orders go to order pool at VW and then chosen for production in batches. More expensive models are produced more often, base models are produced less. Also Interior and exterior color decides how quickly you will receive your car. Currently only Black, Red and Grey AWD Pro S cars are produced.

So chosing a dealer in not that important, but make sure about additional fees and features on top of MSRP and Freight/Pdi. As some dealers charge thousands of dollars extra on top of this while some not.

To add to Black, Grey and Red only in production - south of the border that is. Those three colors are the ones being delivered. In Canada it's radio silence on anything MY23. If you want top AWD trim with Statement and black roof, heatpump, glass roof... it's a minimum 12mth wait like me.
