What VW Canada has done with the ID4 is tame compared to what Audi Canada is doing with the Q4. I placed an order last Sep for a base Q4 before Volksklick opened (worked out to be around 5K more than AWD ID4 with statement package).

Last month, people were informed that in order to guarantee a 2023 Model Year, you need to pay up to $8-12K in option packages to guarantee your spot in the production line, or potentially get pushed out to 2024 Model Year, where they will raise the base trim price by $4K, and makes it federal rebate ineligible (so out of pocket a $9K price hike). Oh, and they are also removing heatpumps from the Q4, and giving back $1K CAD for the inconveniance caused.

My Audi salesperson offered us a cancelled order fully loaded which we declined, and told him we are flexible on colour but not pricing. For what they're asking (75-85K after taxes and rebates), I'd rather stick with a ID4 with statement package at the cheaper price or a Model Y at 77K after BC rebate.
Only issue is that a Q4 is a car/SUV and a model Y is software and tech on wheels. They feel night n day when I drove them back to back. To each their own I guess

If it's about driving feel, then the ID4 is much closer (test drove both back to back in Nov), but I didn't feel like the Q4 was worth 15-20K gap over the ID4. 5K like my builds are, sure I'll entertain the idea.

If anything, I liked the sunroof on the ID4 way more, and now neither of them have heat pumps.

We didn't entertain a Model Y at 87K because it meant it cost 100K after fifteen percent total BC sales taxes, whereas now it's 70K plus twelve percent less 4K BC rebate

That's exactly what Kia and Hyundai did. They stopped taking orders. And the Brantford Kia owner said they are quickly sorting through the old reservations from March and April of last yr. He also said what I mentioned awhile ago, that losing the American rebate is going to benefit Canada very soon. Production for Canada is going up. Which puts even more pressure on VW.
Browsing the Ioniq 5 forums and tracking spreadsheet shows they are currently at around late October early November 2021 orders.

Since we need to change 2 of our cars, we have also been waiting 21 months for Rav4 Prime and are now 7th on the list with projection of another ~6months before getting the car. PHEV options are good but you should also expect ~2 years before getting any of these cars…And I am based in Quebec where we get to bulk of these with BC. I think your options are good but timing may not be better at all.

Sweet, when did you order? My almost-fully loaded might come soon too then.
Was going to ask the same

So here’s the story. He sent an email which had all details about production week etc. mine is awd with statement package, wheels and panoramic roof. Blue.
It had VIN as well. To make sure that I will get it, ( as we just canceled one) I had to reorder again on vw click.
Dealer confirmed that now that car as been assigned to me / new order.
Let’s see.

Right, but when did you make the original order?

Wild, I emailed my dealer asking about if it was true that all 2023's yet to be built will not have a heat pump and they haven't responded. Well congrats on that, meanwhile I'm also strongly considering the Y, going to do a test drive at some point soon.

In Quebec, price difference after taxes and gov rebates is quite big between Model Y and ID4 with statement/pano/wheels/pump(?): $82k-$59k=$23k! I understand that you get a car now with model Y but at one point, the business case to go EV at all cost right now does not make sense anymore. I have decided to hold off until 2024 when ID perhaps regains pump or other models become more available. I am sure many opinions out there…

I would suggest that people not just look at the cash price as the VW interest rate is 2.5% higher than Tesla’s. I also found out the residual is 38.8k on the Tesla.

I also found out a Hyundai dealer got several Ioniq 5 AWDs and they offered them to me a little above MRSP. I said I’d be a buyer at 1k under MRSP. Im not sure if these guys have no reservations but it seems really dodgy they are receiving cars and not selling them to people waiting. Unless they have nobody waiting anymore.

I think the OEMs are going to drop their rates to compete and get sales. By the way, Bank of Canada just raised 0.25% and they will pause for now to see how the delayed inflation numbers come in.
