New to this forum but wanted to comment on ordering an ID.4 in Canada. I recently took delivery of a 2023 ID.4 Pro AWD in BC. Apparently it was declined by someone else: right colour, had the heat pump (but also had a couple of other options that I didn't really want). I had planned to wait for my order to arrive later this year until the lack of heat pump availability became apparent. Ultimately decided to buy now; waiting came with too much uncertainty about when heat pumps would be available, what might happen to government rebates, a concern that the high value of a trade-in may revert to more normal levels, when are competing models actually going be available in reasonable quantities (and at what price), etc. If I had not decided to buy now I definitely would have left my deposit in place; giving up one's place in the line what with wait times, low inventory of all EV's, etc did not seem like a good strategy. Having options is always helpful. So far I'm liking the ID.4. I've had a Model 3 for a few years (two vehicles serving different roles in our case).
Congrats.
I am curious if it has the Statement Package, as apparently those are a bit scarce in Canada/BC at the moment.
And the colour, as I have heard that most of what is coming up here is either Black, Red, Blue, or the flat Grey.
I hope you enjoy the new vehicle and am hoping you will share your thoughts and experience in the coming weeks.

It was not the Statement package; had to draw a line on the price. The colour is "Pure Grey". The different tire sizes, front versus rear, is a drawback from my perspective. I'd rather have same tires all around so I could rotate front to rear. In the fall I'll hunt for some rims for winter tires; hopefully to have matching winter tires on all four corners. I'll be replacing the factory hitch receiver with a Curt 2" receiver.

Thanks for the info.
This seems to align with what I am hearing about non-Statement and the more popular colours, coming up into Canada.
I guess I'll just keep waiting patiently for our Silver AWD with the Statement Package :cautious:

And I have staggered tires on one of my current vehicles and its fine, although I intend to not stagger the winters on our ID4.

Congrats on your purchase. I've had winter 235s installed all around on the factory wheels since delivery in December. I've had them on the car for almost 5000km. No issues. I'm hoping to find some 19" wheels for the summer. Enjoy!

VW recommends 235s all around for winter, I just ordered that from dealership.

If anybody decides to go PHEV Mazda CX90 pricing was just announced. Mazda Announces Pricing and Packaging For First-Ever 2024 Mazda CX-90 54k-64k for the PHEV. I think the electric range is going to be 60km so it's also going to get the 5k govt rebate.
I was closely watching this one. They didn't announce official fuel consumption and EV range for the PHEV, but apparently it says 50km EV range in a leaked manual, so looked like they just managed to squeeze in for the $5K rebate.

the Outlander has a 20kW battery and gets just over 61kms. The CX90 has a 17.8kW battery. Also apparently they are squeezing in a CX70 with the same PHEV drivetrain being revealed this yr.

I'm kind of annoyed BMW didn't bring the iX1. 2023 is a race to the bottom for Kia, Hyundai, VW, Audi, Nissan, GM as to who can deliver the lowest number of cars. I think VW might win this one. I'm going to the AutoShow in a week and a half so I'll know more then.

Quite awhile ago I called a GM dealer to find out about Blazer and Equinox BEV delivery times and they told me 2 yrs.... seriously? What's the point?

Genuine question... Are you saying that due to demand or supply? I thought Kia/Hyundai at least is still very much supply limited on many models (especially PHEV/EV), or is that changing rapidly?

3.3L. Its on Mazda.ca
There’s a PHEV. Its mileage hasn’t been made public. It’s a 2.5L ICE/17.8kW battery combo. I suppose it's getting evaluated to see if it gets the 5k rebate for it's electric only range.

I think everybody to a certain extent is supply constrained but Tesla just dropped the hammer on the OEMs with this huge price drop in Canada. When I test drove the Model Y a couple weeks ago the dealership was very busy. Add in Kia and Hyundai losing the US rebate, I see a shift in the number of EVs coming from Korea to Canada as well.

Yes, Kia and Hyundai spent all of 2022 sending most of their cars to the US and Europe to maximize profits but going forward, they must be sorting out their supply chain because they have the Ioniq 6 and the EV9 coming this year as well. I've also been told that deliveries may open again soon for Kia and Hyundai... I'll verify this within the coming weeks.

BMW seems to be chugging along delivering cars. I know they own most of their chip manufacturers so they can shift priority to their products.

GM. This company is a mystery to me. The Lyric was priced too high to get the rebate. Blazer/eEquinox? If they come in numbers VW is going to be the big loser.

Volvo and Polestar have relatively short deliver times and they've been hitting their target. So this means the Polestar 4 will be in dealerships this year.

Ford just dropped the price of the Mach E by 8500 bucks here and are ramping up production.

Nissan.... I just talked to a sales guy today who said they could get FWD Ariyas in 3 months. AWD versions would be a yr.... I would take this with a grain of salt but several dealers in Toronto have Ariyas to check out now.

VW just seem to be hapless so far. I don't think they've sent 1k ID4 to Canada yet.... the USD is still very strong and getting stronger vs the CAD. This makes the ID4 expensive in Canada. And No heat pump? What percentage of Canadians who are waiting wanted a heat pump? 80%? The US ID4 still gets a partial rebate which makes it more attractive to continuing to deliver ID4s domestically. I mean, Tesla dropped the price of the Model Y here in Canada massively and VW's response is meh? I think VW has just gotten lucky so far wrt GM and Nissan thus far not ramping up ... but let's say they do. I see a lot of headwinds coming for VW.

Honestly if I where hell bent on getting the ID4 I'd wait until 2024 as they will probably get the new screen that was shown in the ID7 and maybe the heat pump will be back and the premium stereo etc...

Your comment about the relative strength of the US and Canadian dollars was a reminder of how that fit into my decision to pull the trigger in our AWD Pro ID.4. I paid $56745 Cdn before PDI, dealer extras, rebates, etc for one with heat pump, glass roof and tire upgrade ($3750 extra over base model). The Volkswagen USA site shows a MSRP of $47795 (almost $64,000 Cdn) before PDI for the same vehicle (without heat pump, glass roof and tire upgrade). Please check my math but it looks like our configuration would have cost at least $10k (Cdn) more in the US than here. That could put upward pressure on prices here in Canada.

Folks any idea to track a car with VIN ? Like whether it crossed Canada customs or not etc. trying to track the VIN my dealer gave. According to him car manufactured in November but no updates after that.
I, too, wondered about this. I don't think there is a way to track without that browser extension our American pals use. And it most likely not for Canadian orders.

Huh, didn’t even think to consider relative purchase prices. The Tesla Y is definitely more expensive in the US under that same calculation. USD$54,999 (~CAD$73,700) vs CAD$69,990. Though, with the US Fed continuing to raise rates it’s possible that the dollar will strengthen more and eventually it’ll be cheaper below the border.

Not really an answer to your question but our ID.4 shows a manufacture date of 11/2022 on the plaque by the driver door. It would seem to have arrived at the dealership here in BC sometime in January, maybe in the second half of the month. Our VIN ends in 007*** (if that means anything in terms of timing).

Let’s see. Looking for it in Toronto. Thanks
