Canadian Orders

I know we’re not going to see deliveries till September and I can’t wait to get mine in… :)

Spoke with my sales rep today and he mentioned orders aren’t locked in yet, that is they can still be modified. Once they are locked in we’re probably looking at 60-90 days before the first units arrive on the west coast.

Ordered the Silver Pro RWD with Statement Package and grey interior. Apparently I’m in the first 10 orders at the dealership so I’m hopeful I’ll be driving it sooner than later.

Anyone else placed an order in Canada? What did you get?

Another Canadian review with an interesting twist. In the closing remarks around the 25 minutes mark he states it will be available in July-August in QC and BC.

Talk to your dealership…. Demos will soon be touring BC, QC and ON.

Be on the lookout!

Thx for the heads up! I talked w/ a sales rep @ my dealership (Vancouver, BC) about a week ago and he said they would likely not have a demo model to test drive until late Aug. Let me know if you hear different.
Clarkdale on Main? I sent my rep a txt this morning asking about this. Will let you know when he gets back to me.

Yup.
Same, it’s going to be a busy day when their demo is in. 😂

Mine said no demo whatsoever since all of them are to be sold with a huge waiting list... I'm in QC and dealer in Boucherville. Gotta talk with another one see what they say.

I noticed that ID4 is sold in about 10 dealerships in BC, in about 10 dealerships in ONT, and in about 25 dealerships in Quebec. I wonder why so many more in Quebec? More appetite in Quebec for EVs? More provincial rebates? In BC, we have a $3,000 rebate (in addition to the federal $5,000 rebate).
Quebec has a $8000 EV rebate in addition to the $5000 federal rebate.

i suspect the “demos” they are sending will be the same US vehicles they brought over weeks ago. Wouldn’t make sense to alter production lines just for a few Canadian vehicles.

They got: poutine, the Habs AND $8,000 provincial EV rebates!? La Belle Province!

Interesting sidenote -- the VW car transport ship "Goodwood" arrived in Halifax yesterday (6/21) and has already dropped off whatever was on board for Canada. It's now already on its way to its next port in the US (Davisville, RI.)

Incentives from the Fed and QC are 5000$ & 8000$ respectively. A total of 13 000$ rebate on the ID4 from the lowest trim to the highest with AWD. Why more dealers have access to it.

Been tracking it for a while. Siem Confucius is due in Emdem June 26 and Siem Cicero July 2. At least one of the 2 should stop in Halifax by mid July.

Someone posted a screen shot on the ID Insider Facebook of their order in the VW system. It shows the order was sent to the factory May 20 and probable arrival of September 9. The order was not locked in at the time so that may have changed.

Latest update in Ontario is "best case is December" 😭

But "on the bright side" they have a demo ID.4 on-site for a whole day in mid-December that we can test drive for 15 minutes. 🙄
I placed an order for a base model AWD ID.4 back in April. It hasn't been locked in yet, or frozen as my salesman says. Over the past couple of months I've been told to expect it in Oct/Nov. I was informed today by the salesman that VW just announced a one month delay in ALL vehicles. I don't know if this is a chip shortage issue or their factory is being impacted by flooding....or just what's going on. Take your pick of calamity options these days.

I quipped to the salesman that maybe I'll receive a 2022 model instead. He responded that, "In over a decade of working at a VW dealership, you'll only know for certain when a car will arrive when it's on the lot." This VW dealership is on Vancouver Island in BC and so it's got a long way to go from that port in Halifax on the other side of North America.

On the plus side of being delayed is that they'll have some of the software issues worked out by then! :)

It’s purely chips shortage. The factory sits in Wolfsburg, far from the flooded hills.

At the moment, orders in Europe can take up to 5 months as well. It just sucks, but it is hitting pretty much all the main brands here currently.

I believe ID4 is made in Zwickau, not Wolfsburg, which is about 3.5 hours or 300+km north.

ID4 made in Zwickau

I read a couple months ago that the microchip shortage will get better in mid-Aug, but by the time VW receives new microchips, installs them into vehicles, and then ships those vehicles - all takes time…
Ugh, my bad. Thanks for correcting me. Indeed Zwickau. Also mentioned on Wikipedia: Volkswagen ID.4 - Wikipedia
Anyway, even further away from the floods.
