Canadian Orders

I know we’re not going to see deliveries till September and I can’t wait to get mine in… :)

Spoke with my sales rep today and he mentioned orders aren’t locked in yet, that is they can still be modified. Once they are locked in we’re probably looking at 60-90 days before the first units arrive on the west coast.

Ordered the Silver Pro RWD with Statement Package and grey interior. Apparently I’m in the first 10 orders at the dealership so I’m hopeful I’ll be driving it sooner than later.

Anyone else placed an order in Canada? What did you get?

Lucky you. Also ordered in May, production supposedly finished Oct 31, but vehicle has yet to cross the ocean. Delivery was scheduled for November then changed to December and now to February...
It’s tough to discern when our car (AWD Pro) will arrive based on all of the variables. We are in BC, put our deposit down in Mar., was ordered by the dealer in Aug., was in the factory mid Oct., and haven’t heard much since. Hoping to hear more soon and the dealer has been great. Based on Burak’s post, maybe mid December?

So happy this forum exists.
Here's the timeline on my order and the latest update from my dealer on Vancouver Island. I hope this is helpful for others who've had a hard time getting information about their orders.
  • In March of 2021 I inquired about the ID 4 at 3 dealership locations; Vancouver, Victoria and Nanaimo. I decided to go with Habourview in Nanaimo as they are the closest to me and seemed to have the shortest waiting list.
  • I placed an order with them in mid-April, with no deposit.
  • For the next two months there was a lot of me pestering the sales guy about where I was on the list. Not much information was getting back to me about that.
  • In mid-June I was told that the vehicle I'd configured in April (Red AWD Pro) was now at the top of his list. I was asked to place a $2,500 deposit on the vehicle (refundable as of Jan.31/22).
  • My order was "locked" on July 1, 2021.
  • On August 4 I was told the vehicle was "frozen to changes" and that the production date would be Sept.17.
  • The production date slipped from Sept.17 to Oct. 13. (Chip shortages and factory shutdown for a week or so.)
  • It arrived in Halifax on the SIEM Plato on Nov. 8.
  • It left Halifax by rail with at least 6 other vehicles for the Nanaimo dealership on Nov.22. I assume there are other ID4s on that train as well, for other dealerships.
  • I was told that my 2021 model ID 4 will be available for me to drive away in mid-January 2022.
The devastating natural disaster and loss of human life here in BC has made me realize that a shiny new car is not the most important thing at the moment. It will get here when it does.

Yay, picked up my stunning dusk blue AWD with statement today!
Drove it out the showroom door with about 6 customers drooling all over it.
Thank god for the 8k Govt EV credits and 6k scrap-it incentive.
Still cost me 57K. PST alone was 6300.00
Ordered April 27, assembled Sept 22 arrived in Langley Nov 26

Alright, the SFL Conductor just left Halifax after spending ~10 hours moored and draught went from 9.3 to 9. This is quite likely the last ship with deliveries that will make to dealerships before year end.

If you’re in BC and you vehicle, like mine, is on that one you will be lucky if you take delivery before year end. Let just hope all impacted by the flooding and landslides are safe.

edit: actually she has not yet left Halifax, ShipTracking notifications…

Is anyone here located in the GTA and keen on getting Tuxmats for their new ID.4? I was looking for floor mats for the winter and wrote to Tuxmat about availability for the ID.4 (I prefer their mats over WeatherTech and they are a Canadian company.) They told me they are currently developing them, but need someone that can bring in their vehicle to scan it for proper fitment. I'd happily do it, but I'm in Montreal -- and more importantly don't have my car yet. ;-)
I've heard of tuxmat and heard good things, but I think you'll get yours before me. I heard bad reviews on tuxmats e golf mats about fitment and height. I'll probably go with weathertech.
I ordered and got locked in mid July.

So based on the posts above I have no idea when I'll get it.

I figured the statement packages would take priority, oh well.

To those that have taken delivery:

For the Canadian folks, latest we have is 2 vessels stopping in Halifax around mid December.

Spoke to my dealer today, waiting to hear back as to how things are looking time line wise. But I know it won't be most likely before March.

I asked about whether they were prioritizing Statement packages over non-statements and he believes that that is not the case, but that AWD are prioritized over RWD.

I will probably end up with a 2022 model, which is fine by me, so long as they honor the price I locked in at.

Here's an article that came up that just so happens to talk about this exactly:

InsideEVs: VW USA: 2021 ID.4 Reservation Holders Will Get 2022 Model Instead.

Apparently the range may increase, but I won't hold my breath. I don't see how it would if the battery pack stays the same.

While I can see them offering different options on the 2022 I would be surprised if batteries and motors change in the 2nd pro year. Range increase can most likely be the result of software optimisation and perhaps leveraging more of the battery capacity. I wouldn’t expect the increase to be anything more than a few percentage point… And that change should also apply to the 2021 models.

You may get to add things like hud or 360 cameras and that would be great.

FWIW, I stopped by Victoria VW today, and they had 3 vehicles on the lot - 2 blue RWD Pros, and a white Pro S AWD with the Black and Tan interior (which looks pretty nice actually). Yet to see a Moonstone one, so perhaps they ran out of moons, who knows. Anyway, they are trickling in, even in sleepy Victoria, so hopefully you are next in line. They are still saying 2 weeks for the demo, so am thinking sure, New Years maybe, what with the mess to clean up.

Really sorry to hear that, hopefully it’s nothing too serious and you’ll get it soon.

Hoping for the best! Mind if we ask what was broken on it?
They used to have someone that walked in front with a red flag so as not to scare the horses (c.1900). Maybe hire a protester from the leg until they get the part in?
Question for those of you who have taken delivery of Statement version cars: has the ability of the matrix LED headlamps to turn during cornering been locked out, as it seems is the case in the US? For a demo of how it’s supposed to work, see Bjorn Nyland’s video
