Canadian Orders
I know we’re not going to see deliveries till September and I can’t wait to get mine in… 
Spoke with my sales rep today and he mentioned orders aren’t locked in yet, that is they can still be modified. Once they are locked in we’re probably looking at 60-90 days before the first units arrive on the west coast.
Ordered the Silver Pro RWD with Statement Package and grey interior. Apparently I’m in the first 10 orders at the dealership so I’m hopeful I’ll be driving it sooner than later.
Anyone else placed an order in Canada? What did you get?

Sorry to hear about your E-golf. I hear it’s a great city vehicle. Small range, but no mechanical issues whatsoever. Owners seem happy. Was that your experience?Ordered my RWD as a replacement on my totalled 2020 egolf :'(
Put deposit down with Vancouver VW in July and was told sept/oct.
I had been given a VIN# but it doesn't line up with the right plant (vin has factory identifer M, which is a French plant not German).
Reached out this week and was told November... And that I couldn't get my VIN yet. Frustrating to be honest.
As a side Q, anyone know if the ID.4 factory in Germany is union?
Zwickau plant was/is running at minimum capacity due to parts shortage - likely microchips from Infenion in Malaysia, where there was a Covid outbreak in factory in early Aug. A report I read said VW was wanting to get factory back up and running in Sept. Vaccination rates in Malaysia are high (over 75% adults are vaxxed now) so I’m hoping they can open soon, make the chips & deliver them to Germany ASAP.
Fingers crossed we get our vehicles in Nov!
I absolutely loved my egolf. So good for commuting and city driving, I'd get about 25-30km more than the advertised 200km range once the novelty of flooring it at a green light faded.
I used it for camping on occasions too, especially in squamish/Whistler where charging infrastructure was good. And never worried about draining battery charging devices or playing music through the speakers when at camp.
I was bummed when it got totalled (by a friend driving it) and sad the used market was a total of three vehicles that werent worth what they were selling for. So I just ordered the ID.4 as a replacement hoping it would be here by the time fall rolled around.
I got lucky because I purchased total loss insurance so I'm getting $10k in store credit towards the ID.4 and insurance payed me out more than I had left on financing.
Definitely looking forward to a higher clearance and more range. Thanks for the intel on the chip shortage, fingers crossed they assemble them and ship em soon.

“At this stage we’ve been updated that the vehicles showing up in our first shipments will be entering production very soon so it will still be a few more weeks at minimum before any of our vehicles complete production status and are on their way to Canada.”
That seems to align with the late October to mid November delivery I’ve seen on my order.
We can always hope this is inaccurate and the vehicles are on the soon to arrive Siem Confucius but it’s not looking good.

I reached out to my rep earlier this week at Clarkdale (aka Vancouver VW now) to see if there was an update on delivery estimates and haven’t even got a response yet. It’s been radio silence since I put in my deposit for a factory order… not sure if the ownership change there has something to do with it, but gotta say I’m underwhelmed by their service/responsiveness so far as a new customer.

If you’re not in the first batch it could be months like in 2022 before you get yours which could be why the sales rep is less responsive. Not an excuse as they should at least acknowledge your inquiry.

I'm really surprised how much variation there seems to be in what people are being told (some people have been given production dates and VINs) - it seems to vary from dealer to dealer and rep to rep even, when they should all have access to the same info. The fact we don't even have an order tracker for Canadian orders like VW has in the States is a bit strange. Not a great customer experience to be left in the dark for months!
Hopefully I'll hear back from my rep soon, otherwise I'll follow up with someone else at the dealership.
I was told Vancouver VW's manager is off sick and the sales reps can't access the info to give me more details. In this climate I'm inclined to believe it but it feels like being jerked around
My dealer sent me a screen shot that appears to come from their internal system with the status on my order. It specifies anticipated week of production and a date for delivery to the port. However the dates don't quite match because port delivery is a week earlier than production. So I'm not sure what it's worth.

Production complete and port arrived are both Oct. 15th, however there is another field called "effective production week" with a value of 4321, which is the last week of October. I sympathize with you. I put a $3K deposit in early May on an AWD @ Vancouver (Clarkdale) VW. I was assured my vehicle would be in the first AWD batch. My sales rep has been very slow to give me updates. I’ve never received any official order tracking number. I understand the chip shortage is out of their control - in fact, I had to educate my sales rep about the chip shortage (in April), but the low level of communication leaves much to be desired.Thanks for sharing. On my previous status update, both Production Complete and Domestic Port Arrived were August 28 and there was no Production Week.Mine is from a month ago and didn’t have the production week info. What’s really interesting is the Domestic Port Arrived, our dates are 2 weeks apart. It could be yours is earlier because of your proximity to Halifax. Or it’s the revised Halifax arrival date that affects all deliveries.
Given that (1) in reality there is probably a 3-4 week delay between completing production of the car and its arrival at the domestic port (to account for shipping) and (2) there is a discrepancy with production week, I have a feeling those 2 dates don't mean much. That is also what my dealer says, ie that they themselves follow production week. Assuming actual production week is indeed week 43, I'm not expecting the car in Montreal before late November.
If you manage to get a production week on yours, let us know. BTW, mine is AWD, so that's another reason it might be part of a different batch.

The only ship making it to Halifax in September is scheduled for the 14th. There’s another one on the way to Germany and it’s unlikely it would make it back here before October if it evens stops in Halifax.

This is the first time I see a confirmed “Production Completed” date! Assuming they are now building the first batch then the SIEM Aristotle is the likely ship they would be on. Arrives in Emden on September 19, by that time the vehicles should have made it to the port.
