Canadian Orders

I know we’re not going to see deliveries till September and I can’t wait to get mine in… :)

Spoke with my sales rep today and he mentioned orders aren’t locked in yet, that is they can still be modified. Once they are locked in we’re probably looking at 60-90 days before the first units arrive on the west coast.

Ordered the Silver Pro RWD with Statement Package and grey interior. Apparently I’m in the first 10 orders at the dealership so I’m hopeful I’ll be driving it sooner than later.

Anyone else placed an order in Canada? What did you get?

Does anyone know if there are any ID4s in the lower mainland (BC) for test drive? I am sad to have missed the boat in early august...

No idea, they probably are done for now as I haven’t seen any recent mention of dealerships having them. Maybe call a few and see what they say.
I was told the cars that came to Victoria were for a private event for people who had made deposits already, fwiw. No word back from my dealer re initial orders arriving, so they are likely as much in the dark as we are. They also said to not hold my breath if I wanted to try one first as it would be next spring earliest before they see stock on their lots. That was before chip shortage info was announced too.
The Bishu Highway which sat anchored in the English Channel for 10 days is now on its way to Emden. With 2 ships in port mid/late September it’s likely ID.4s will be in Halifax by early October.

Did Siem Confucius arrive in North America safe and sound? I think it will have a bunch of AWD destined for US. They’re scheduled to have a press event for AWD this coming week so we will see press review videos on YouTube next week on AWD ID4, I’m hoping!

On the VW Insider Facebook page, one dealer rep (Harbourview VW in Naniamo BC) mentioned that one of their ID4s (probably RWD) was on Siem Confucius and is now in Halifax.

He also said they show 5 waiting to be loaded on ship. But why only 1 on the Confucius? Not knowing how vehicles are allocated it could be demos sent in advance to drum up sales. Or they only get one and another dealership gets 20?

I’m still thinking the Bishu Highway or Siem Aristotle will be delivering the first major batch of vehicles arriving in YVR mid to late October. If I get a call in 2 weeks to pick up mine I’ll be very pleased.

Edit: just noticed the GM at Harbourview is also the new owner of Clarkdale. Not related to deliveries but interesting we get such different levels of information sharing between the 2 dealerships.

Just learned from the VW sales guy here on Vancouver Island, that my AWD completion date has slipped from September 17 to September 30.
As I've said before, I'll put more faith in these dates once I'm given my VIN. Will let the group know when that happens.

Just confirmed with the rep from Harbourview, the one in Halifax is a customer order and they now have 6 waiting to be loaded on a ship.

Even a VIN number isn't enough to guarantee an accurate date. I have a VIN, and my vehicle was completed on September 4, but the ETA for shipping it to Canada keeps slipping. It originally had an arrival ETA of September 21 for Halifax, but that's currently up in the air and the vehicle is still waiting to be loaded onto a ship in Germany.
Could well be, that the car is build, but waiting in a parking lot for a missing module (due to parts shortage). The VIN is likely created the the beginning of the assembly line.

That and/or they are waiting to have enough vehicles ready to load so they don’t send an half empty ship across the world…

I’ve sent a chaser to my rep this morning to get an update on where mine is sitting.

Unless the Bishu Highway leaves shortly we’ll again have 2 ships waiting in Emden on Monday. On the bright side it’s quite certain one of the 2 will stop in Halifax.
My order (Pro RWD) from a BC lower mainland dealer (not Clarkdale) said the following according to the information the rep printed out for me:

production completed: September 4, 2021
status: at factory,
eta: "on hold",
domestic port arrived: September 21, 2021 (eta)

I made my reservation during the first week of May.
You may want to see if you can get an update from your sales rep. The Bishu Highway just left Germany and should be in Halifax September 26. Since your vehicle was waiting it’s quite likely it’s on that ship.

Draught is 9.3m, it was 8.3 while moored so it will be interesting to see how much that changes when it unloads in Halifax.

Thank you for the vessel update, I really hope my vehicle made it onto the ship! My sales rep asked me to check in again with them after a couple weeks so I may visit them again next weekend for an update.
FYI - Confirmed w/ my dealer this morning in YVR - He has 12 ID4's enroute onboard the Bishu Hwy - EST Arrival in Halifax Sept 26th - good lucks!

Which dealership?????
Openroad VW I'm pretty sure you will be getting calls Monday if yours is on that boat :) I'm pretty sure Clarkdale aka Vancouver VW would have a few on that boat as well - unfortunately Halifax doesn't have a searchable Manifest like the US doe s ... :S

I ordered (RWD, no Statement) and paid my deposit on April 11 from Jimmy P VW. Just asked them if they have details in their system on ETA. Let's see if one dealer is more competent and transparent than the other, or if it's simply a VW thing. I'll update when I get a reply and we can compare!
