Due to lucky circumstances I ended up communicating with a VW dealership owner and he said VW will be opening up reservations on Oct 10th, I believe there is an earlier window Oct. 3rd for those who expressed interest previously. Not sure how one expresses interest earlier, maybe just be registering online.
My dealer her in BC said they (dealers) can put their orders in a few days before the portal opens for the general public. He has a list of 780-or-so customer (he fields about 20 emails a day about ID4s) orders for MY23 and has everyone's info collected on color, trims etc.... He advised that I don't put another order through at the time the portal as he handles it prior. Hope it pans out as such seeing that I am #19 on this "list". Fingers crossed

780 orders? LOL. Sure he does. where's that eye roll emoji???

I've talked to 8 dealers in the GTA area and they are all full of Sh-t. They know nothing and talk out of their butts. The only dealer that gave me accurate info after 1.5 yrs is Waterloo. I knew all of the details of what was going on from my HQ contact 3 months ago and the Waterloo guys are the only people who gave a straight and accurate answer. It became an ongoing joke to see which dealer would give a honest answer. The worst was Bramgate. Just stringing people along. I was pretty confident over a year ago nobody, or very few people were going to get a car. My HQ contact told me so. He was really pissed at the way VW has handled this. Even going forward, the online ordering will just direct you to a dealership. The only thing is, HQ is going to crack down on dealerships that are jerking people around by overcharging. Just know that when it comes time to collect your car.

If you want to be notified of the Oct 3rd opening of the portal sign up online on their website. Yes the previous people waiting have been given priority before that date. Then they will make the ordering completely public.

So now the question for those of us who have ordered and put down deposits before the cutoff is, does this magical October 3rd date mean we ahould expect to hear from our dealers to convert our orders before then?

You Ontario people are so funny. (sarcasm font). Not everything revolves around the GTA. Bro. EV market is completely different in BC. Wait, you're the "my buddy at BMW" guy, right? Didn't you give up on an ID4 already? Exactly.

I've got news for you. HQ is here in Ontario. They control the orders for every dealership. I don't care if you believe me or not. This isn't personal. I'm just telling you the real truth. LOL. Yah, amazing, I also know a guy who is at BMW HQ. Crazy. BMW HQ is here too. Up the 400. He offered to get me a i4 edrive 35 or 40. I thanked him but said the rear seats are too tight so I'm going with a X1 M sport. Yah, I gave up on the ID4. That's irrelevant to the information I have been told from a much more accurate source. My information has been spot on all along. Just ask anybody on this thread. Why? Because my contact is relatively high up at HQ. He's just being a nice guy by letting me know what's going on. He's getting really tired of the misinformation out there. And after things settle down in late October you guys will have a much better idea as to deliver times.

I got a call from my dealer yesterday telling me that there were going to flip my 2022 to 2023. I've put a deposit on Feb 9th and I've been waiting impatiently since then even if at the time he told me that the waiting time was between 18 to 24 months. He explained that apparently VWC will get 20% of the production out of Chattanooga which come to 1400 units per month. Now, take in consideration that there are around 8K outstanding order like mine in Canada, this ca give you a perspective of the delay were looking at. Base on what I ordered in Feb., he confirmed with me what I wanted to add or delete from the new selection of option.

Today, I received an email to confirm my selection and I was given a price and a COMM#. He told me that when my order move to production, he will contact to keep me in the loop. I'm starting to a little bright spot at the end of the tunnel.

Yes, at minimum, I'd follow up with the dealer.
From what I've been told, yes. If you don't hear from your dealer by the end of Sept you should call them up. Who knows, maybe you got lost in the shuffle. Holy cow this whole thing has been so miss managed I feel sorry for all of your guys who've ordered and are still waiting. I hope you guys get compensated. There's no way they should be charging you the new prices.

May I ask in which province you ordered, for my ongoing study of which province(s) is/are being prioritised?

I spoke with my dealer last month when they got in touch to update my order file to get a copy of my driver’s licence, so at least I haven’t been lost.

It’s really starting to look like the only people being converted so far are in BC and maybe Quebec, which I’ve speculated elsewhere is probaly due to their legislated quotas and therefore requirement to meet a hard target there first.

Why are you here then? Say hi to your high-up HQ buddies please.
He has so much in common with bad breakup stories.
Its like your GF dumped you because you could not commit for so long(waited 10 months and no order), you are now engaged to someone else (Ordered BMW X1) and wedding date is fixed (Delivery date) but you cant get over your Ex. You still check with your common friends on what she is up to, what are her future plans (Checking with HQ Friends), go through her social media everyday (Posting on sites like this) and say how bad is she (ID4) and how good is your wife to be (BMW X1), what other girls may be better than her (Audi Q4). :ROFLMAO:

Currently someone posted on reddit before their post was taken down, they are making around 20-30 cars per shift and are working in 2 shifts 5 days a week. So max they are making 300 cars a week and about 1200 a month so Canada Cant get 1400 cars a month, they are not producing that many but soon they will be moving to 3 shifts and will improve their capacity by 25% with that max cars they will produce may be about 2200 cars a month 20% of that will be close to 450 cars a month to Canada at max capacity, also don't forget, now ID4 is going to be available all across Canada and not just 3 provinces so demand will be even higher

I think your theory holds, I am out in BC and it appears I am "priotized" with a year end German MY22 with Jan ETA (wish I could choose). For those of you moved over to MY23 does that imply you shouldn't expect anything until Jan?

Almost certainly nothing till Jan, unless you are in first few orders. From post above, some insider wrote they will start shipping it to dealers from Oct.

And would you care to share your theory
Pretty much just as I said, that BC and Quebec are getting converted first because both provinces have legislation that mandates a certain percentage of EV sales per manufacturer.

Since it’s already September they’ve lost months and months now to supply chain nonsense so they have to play catch-up to an extent.
