I was just reviewing our purchase agreement and noted there is a 5-year wheel and tire warranty for $595 added to our agreement. Has anyone else seen this on their contract? I requested it be removed and was told that was not possible but they could reduce it to 1-year for $295.

I then made a call to VW Canada to file a complaint, and they informed me that they do not interfere with dealerships and their sales processes.

The entire episode has me frustrated. It's only $295, but I feel it's unethical and underhanded. I don't understand why a dealer wants to upset a customer, especially one who has been waiting nearly a year for a car.

I had a similar experience, with a 2y/40,000 km road hazard warranty and 2y of free car washes for $499, but my dealer removed the tire warranty when I objected.

Good question, I was not given a very detailed explanation. I was just told VW Canada does not warranty wheels and tires so they had to include it on all ID4s. I assume the tires would have a warranty from their manufacturer, I'm not sure what a wheel warranty would include, cracking?

At this point I'm not willing to out the dealer, we're kind of in a tough position. We've been waiting for a year to receive a car, and they can just sell it to the next person in line.

I have $250 charge for Nitrogen/Tire warranty in my order sheet.

I had it with my current car as well, I used it when I had unrepairable puncture in one of the tires and they prorated my tire and gave that much discount on new tire. If possible I would ask them to remove it, not worth in my opinion.

Are these wheel and tire warranties specific to the dealer or is it dealer wide? Can I have my tires and wheels repaired at any dealer in Canada?
It shouldn't be specific to any dealer or repair shop. I had a flat over the summer, went to my usual tire shop on Clark drive and then submitted my invoice via email. Got a refund cheque a couple weeks later. For any more than a flat you would quite likely need the repair shop to submit an estimate with picture to the insurer.

Alright, I've been inactive here for a while, looks like some BC,Qc and Ontario folks got some orders movin'. Which is great!

What would you guys suggest I do at this point considering my setup :

RWD Pro, Deposit Feb 24 w/ COMM#, no email from dealer nor VW, only had brief SMS / Calls with my sales representative and never got any concrete info about next steps.
Dealer : Pickering VW

Last call date : aug 4th

I'm leaving for Europe tonight for work and thinking if I should transfer my calls to my European SIM card...

Looking for any reasonable feedback,

Cheers Guys
I think you should touch base with your dealer to see if you're being bumped to a 2023, if you are, a RWD sounds like it's at the bottom of the priority list at Chattanooga. If you aren't being bumped to a 2023, ask them what your estimated production date is.

Prices are defined? Are you trying to tell me I am paying 2021 MSRP? I thought all our orders are subject to the MSRP for whatever year we get?

My order was in the portal since July 2021, had a commission number since jan2022, but reality is that Canada isn't a big enough market and VWoC is not given any allocations. In greater Vancouver your odds of seeing a model y vs id4 is 20 to 1
If you receive a 2022, you should be paying the same amount (if not similar) to what your original bill of sale was. When your ID4 is issued a VIN they'll call you in and have you re-sign a new bill of sale marked as a 2022. This was my experience.

That sucks. However...what is stopping you from perhaps running over a precariously placed roofing nail near the end of the warranty period and getting 4 new tires? $295 is a great deal for a set of tires.

They will prorate the tires according to the thread left on them. You normally replace both tires at the same time but they will pay for just 1

Crossed my mind, but why couldn’t it happen 2 days after taking possession. Might curb all four wheel as well.

I think you have to consider individual dealer allotments when you guys are trying to compare across different dealers and provinces.

When the ID4 was making it's rounds last August across the country, the information I got was that some dealerships were taking on all the pre-orders & reservations that were coming in without taking into account their allotment. I had to call 3 dealers here before one had availability to pre-order. Everyone else turned me away. Some dealers were taking on hundreds of orders without any way of fulfilling those numbers in a realistic timeline. So that's why someone in BC in August 2021 might get pushed to a 2023, but someone in QC or ON that ordered in August 2021 might still get a 2022.

I was on the phone for over an hour and they just changed it. Had to go through the new list of options for the 23 but I have the same order number.
Check this on another thread, someone is saying they called VW and they switched them from 2022 to 2023

Did they also add a dealer admin fee on top of that?
When you use the Build link on the VW.ca website, it makes you pick a dealership to work with. I've checked all the dealerships in the vicinity and found that every one of them had different admin fees and/or forced add-ons, including things such as winter mats, wheel locks, tire warranty, etc. So I've determined which dealership charges the least (this one charges no admin fees and only winter mats and wheel locks so total dealer fees are less than $300 which I consider reasonable) and will be placing my order through them.
