I know we’re not going to see deliveries till September and I can’t wait to get mine in…

Spoke with my sales rep today and he mentioned orders aren’t locked in yet, that is they can still be modified. Once they are locked in we’re probably looking at 60-90 days before the first units arrive on the west coast.

Ordered the Silver Pro RWD with Statement Package and grey interior. Apparently I’m in the first 10 orders at the dealership so I’m hopeful I’ll be driving it sooner than later.

Anyone else placed an order in Canada? What did you get?

If I was in this spot, I'd get a MY23. More kinks are worked out year after year..... For the 360 cam, once you have a vehicle with it, you'll never want one without it. That feature alone is why I never bothered ordering a 22.

That said, this is your call 100% and everyone values features and wait time differently.

So the 2022 is anAWD Moonstone, lunar gray, statement, gradient. The 2023 Oryx White, AWD, statement, black interior, sunroof, heat pump, electra wheels.
The 23 has the stereo and wheels I want. 2022 will require new stereo (digital focal flax) and new rims.
I dont look behind me so I dont care for the 360 camera. I am thinking and concerned about eventual parts availability for the European car
Is this a case of bird in the hand? My sense is I should wait for the 2022 and on arrival see if there is further info on delivery out of Chattanooga. Decisions, decisions.

If it's just audio and wheels, I would go for 2022. If you want 360 camera and side sensors for parking and can wait then wait for 2023. Specially if 2022 has original lower price, not with 3k hike. At least you know when car will be available, unlike no one knows when they will start delivering 2023, who knows if they stop rebate like US, if they again hike the price. Also it will be first production units from Chattanooga, you never know if it has any issues, Too many unknowns.

On the other side you don't know how good will be the audio in 2023, it's just extra woofer, it's better to choose something you like. Same with wheels, you can get winter tires on rims you like.

BC has started a sliding scale for rebates based on income. I can see the provincial rebates eliminated eventually.

Update : Yesterday my guy at Pickering VW called to confirm what we all know, order converted to a 2023, Color from Moonstone Grey to Pure Grey and I told him I want the heat pump.

Price went from 47 XXX$ to 51 XXX$, like expected with the new 2023 configurator.

Sadly, when I aksed him about leadtimes for production/delivery, he had no idea, could be more than a year... so I told him to call me back when he will need to convert it to a 2024.

Anyway, I have a 2023 order with an unknown delivery timeframe, a bit frustrating honestly.

I know it is frustrating, to me price hikes are even bigger concern than delays. As I was promised Feb to May 2023 delivery, I am ok till that time.
3k+1.5k for heat pump is already 4.5k higher, and a couple of grands have already gone up with rising interest rates since we Placed our order, that is roughly 6.5k. What is the point of giving deposit and waiting for over a year, if price hikes are going to haunt us. Tesla fixes the price from the day you order, Rivian a start up locks your price, others who don't, deliver their cars quicker. For initial US customers, when their models got converted to 2022 from 2021 with price hike, they gave them a code which refunded them price hike money. They should do it to Canadians who are already in line (I know it is not going to happen, even in dreams) and waiting forever for ID4s.

If by any chance, they remove iZev rebate, I am cancelling my order.

The iZev rebate has been renewed until 2027 in the beginning of the year, you should be ok on that front. And yeah the price hike is frustrating also.

Yes I know it is renewed but you know politics and politicians, anything can happen any time. Doug ford cancelled Ontario EV rebate in an instance, Biden cancelled US EV rebate with in days, BC is considering to cancel or reduce rebate.

If I try to see positive side of the story, I have heard they are going to increase rebate for id4 to 6500, I read that in ID4 Fb group. It may be just rumor as I have not read it anywhere else

The United States is now going to be a world EV manufacturing powerhouse. I’d say that is seeing the positives in the story and it will be better for Mother Nature too. Win-Win! 🌈

Side note - In California, 1 out of every 5 EV owner is going back to an ICE vehicle.

From what I saw the major sticking points were charging infrastructure, extra times (days sometimes on massive road trips) needed for road trips to hunt for a charger and charge, electricity costs creeping up, brown-outs. Also touched on rising cost of electricity + cost of new EVs are so expensive that buyers never recover the switch to an EV if coming from a comparable ICE vehicle. Rebates nuked by Biden were also brought up. I saw it on youtube a few days back

Yeah it was an interesting bit. As we are keeping an ICE vehicle also, it doesn't matter.

Ice vehicle is must in Canada as of today, specially for long trips. I am keeping my Civic and Sienna both (Infact thinking to get Sienna Hybrid to replace current). ID4 will be new daily driver, as I drive about 2500km a month, I can save a lot on gas considering today's low electricity prices.

In Ontario DCFC are rare, most of them are just 50kw. Even on one of Ontario's busiest Highway 401, service areas have 50kw chargers.

I guess BC and QC are better equipped with them but not Ontario, we are still getting better.

There was old news about people going back. Maybe 5-10 years ago but that passes for internet “facts” in many places. 🤣

We're in BC with a Subaru Forester and a Leaf, and looking to actually trade in/sell the Forester. The road trips we go on these days (WA, Whistler, Victoria, OR) I think we can abandon ICE completely.

Put a deposit down on Q4 last week, but will likely also put one down for ID4 when it opens up Oct 3
