Car-Net does not work in car or on phone

So, I got my car yesterday! Whoopee! I cannot use any car net functions! I am logged into the app on the phone and it tells me I am not authorized to do anything with my car (vin already in app). I Calle the dealer they said to call car net. I called car net and they said call vw maintenance shop. Now I am waiting on vw maintenance shop to see if they can figure it out. Please post if you have had the same problem and who you finally had fix it.

I had car net working but it stopped connecting to the car 4 days ago. Called car net support number. They have escalated the problem for troubleshooting. I was the 13th caller yesterday with the same problem. I'm supposed to hear from a technician when they come up with a solution. Could be a few days.

Does VW have to activate something in Car Net in order for to be recognized in the app?

According to Car Net support, my car is registered on their network and they aren't sure why I can't connect to my car.
My "solution" to CarNet was to return the eGolf after the three year lease was up :|

I've logged on one time to check something for another user here. Other than that, I haven't bothered. Not even sure you can do anything with it other than climate control.
Several times of late the Car-Net App has rendered ~"not available at this time" when trying to do a remote pre-heating (elicited from same place in my home as typical when it has worked). There's only one thing I ask of it and .... as many others I'm underwhelmed with this App thus far. :(

I had the same exact problem when I activated my account last night. I didn't further troubleshoot since I was thinking I just needed to set something (acknowledge, approve, etc) on the car's the infortainment system and I didn't have time to go out to the car. I guess that's not the case. Thanks for the heads-up. I'll add that one to the list of things still needing to be resolved. I also haven't figured out how to get my EA 3-years of free charges. The dealer didn't mention anything and I failed to ask, but that's a topic for another thread...and I haven't searched the forum yet for that answer.

Great. Thank you much!

I think you have to "wake" your car up before it will communicate with Car-Net more reliably. Go out and open your door and either turn the car on or just try the door and see if that helps it connect. I can't remember what I did last week when I was testing the remote climate option but I posted it and it was the same issue with the eGolf years ago (that the app wouldn't connect without the car being awake, which effectively renders it useless).
If I have to go out to my car it kinda defeats the whole purpose of the remote connectivity n'est pas? :(

Yes, and now you know (yet another reason) why I'm so vocal about its relative uselessness :)

For EA the dealership gave me a code. I entered that code into the EA app and I'm all set for free EA charging.

Hello,
my dealer game me a code along with some instructions on how to get the 3 years of free charging. I'll add a photo. It seems to me the dealers are not really all caught up with the ID4 features and offers. I had to ask my salesman after it was all done about the free charging and he had to look it up. Oh and my car-app is also not working. Frustrating!! Had to block out my vin number on the paper work. View attachment 2849

I have the same problem. Just got the car two days ago and I'm all set up in the car-net app but I keep getting a not subscribed message when I click on check battery level or car climate. All my current plans are active but can't be accessed. I called them today and they said there were going to email tech support but that it might take 5-7 days. Crazy!! I was at work and didn't have time to argue. I also called my dealership and they said they did all they can do on their end and to call car- net app tech support. I did the wizard set up in the car and the wifi connection but still not working. I almost feel like there is a permission on car-net app that they haven't turned on. I'll try to complain on twitter @VW account and see if I can get some attention to this.

I did a factory reset on the infotainment and it worked. I didn't have to reinstall the app on my phone. Once you start the reset, the car in your app disappears, then once the reset is done just follow the wizard set up and it's ready to go.

Car-Net IT is working an issue whereas the overall service turns off after 30 days, despite our being enrolled for years (exception VZ Hotspot which is cost bearing going forward after 30 days).

If mine doesn't reactivate noonish today (the end of the 48 hrs they asked me to wait) then I'll be again calling them.

I have not tried an in-vehicle infotainment reset as Car-Net did recognize this issue when I provided my VIN at 31 days post delivery.

Note [to self]: reboot infotainment by holding down the power button for ~20 seconds until the screen goes blank.

My hot spot just ran out after two weeks. A few days ago I was warned I was halfway through the data allotment. Thing is, I never used it.

I figure mine is going to crap out any time, since yesterday was the 30 day mark for me.
I just got off the phone again with the Car-Net folks as it has not worked since the 48 hour wait period they initially gave me. They're now "escalating further" within their IT and said they'd get back to me.

Nice lady indicated I wasn't the only one calling on same. :cautious:

btw: I did reboot the infotainment a half hour before calling them to no avail.
