Having been a long time Volkswagen and Audi fan, I’m really disappointed in the ID.4 car-net app. I’m not able to track the vehicle, turn headlights on or off, or lock or unlock the car. Does anyone know when he’s features are going to be available?

Not sure when but yes I would assume these will come later. Just looking at all models from VW, all these basic commands are possible with CarNet, except for the ID4 at the moment (US +CAN)

We keep waiting on these just as we’re waiting on over the air updates to start. It would be nice to have the basic ability to remotely unlock and lock the vehicle. It would also make sense that the vehicle could lock itself when you walk away just as it already unlocks when you approach. I’m also wondering when they’ll fix the glitch with easy entry. That option appears on the vehicle settings screen but disappears when you turn on the car to select it. As someone who came from a Tesla to an ID.4, I absolutely love the car but miss the software of the Model 3.

I'd shoot an email to VW's emobility to let them know (I have), but I also wouldn't expect any improvements Car-Net related until after 3.0, just a hunch. VW has said they want to build Car-Net out, but that was about as much as they committed to — no timeline, no specifics.

As you recommended, I just sent their e-mobility people an email. I suggest others do the same. It would also be nice to know when we can expect OTA updates to begin for the NA market. The email address I found was: [email protected]
