Car-Net won't even initiate initial login...

My Car-Net App again worked yesterday afternoon (21st) after an outage since the 17th (my 30-day anniversary). This was after a couple calls to them in that period. This via an iPhone.

Car-Net is aware of some issues. Do call them and provide your VIN so you're on record for same. (833) 648-2735

btw: when I was taking delivery I/we couldn't get the EA App to work (iPhone 12). That took almost two weeks for them to resolve, so this Car-Net thing was relatively minor by comparison.

Yes I drover my 1st edition out without the car net working. It activated after roughly 12 hours. It kept saying the car wasn't equipped with car-net on the phone app and the in car initiation just would throw up a connection error. It sorted itself out after about 12 hours. The car net is activated by the dealer through a portal I think and that server sync isn't as quick as one would expect it to be.

My dealer said it could take up to 24h for Car-Net and EA to activate through their portals. That being said, mine activated right away. Even drove out of the way to "test out" an EA site. Grabbed a free $14.68 worth of juice (had to run the wife through the motions).

I was supposed to pick up my ID.4 yesterday, but got a call on Wednesday to say that they couldn't get car net to work. I was told yesterday afternoon that VW Engineering is working on it. I have postponed purchase till Monday (at this time).

5 days and Carnet still isn’t active. I tried to call Carnet 5 times to sort this out and my call was dropped 5 times.

Let’s just say you aren’t missing much. That app is by far the weakest part of the ecosystem around the ID4.

True, although just this early and chilly New England morn I did appreciate pre-heating the vehicle via Car-Net. That's about its only value to me so I did push for it getting resolved.

In my case it was some computer glitch that mistakenly dropped me, and a number of others, upon our 30-day ownership anniversary (it should have dropped the vehicle's WiFi Hotspot and did, but also all other functions). They got it resolved within 4 days however.

I had the same thing happen to me. Planned my entire work week to leave early Friday to go to the dealership. Postponed at least until Monday when they can contact VW again.

Postponing an excellent vehicle purchase because a relatively useless App doesn't work? My EA App wouldn't install on my iPhone 12 for two weeks; should I have delayed (thereby likely given up on) purchase of my FE?
It's a Brave New World indeed. 🤷‍♂️
My Car-Net app ceased to function upon my 30-day anniversary due to a computer glitch, but a couple calls to them and it was resolved within 4 days. And although a different group, VW Customer CARE followed up with me to ensure that is was accomplished.
I'm sure they'll rectify your situation as well.

I really hope I can pick it up tomorrow. Salesman said SOS wasn't connecting to car net and they couldn't get it out of transport mode.

While Car-Net troubles are a nuisance, the transport mode thing is something they will absolutely need to solve before you can take delivery.

Oh, well that's a whole diff'rent kettle of fish and Yes something they will definitely need to resolve.

It has been a week now and my first edition still hasn’t connected to car net.The dealer told me yesterday that he was told not to sell the car till it had. He also said VW is working on the problem and that it plagues about 1 in 3 cars. He also made a comment he was told to leave it outside so that it could make a better connection. Hoping it connects soon.

Is the dealer in a dead zone for Verizon?

Part of me is tempted to say that CarNet isn't all that useful. But it may well be that the cellular modem is how they plan to deliver OTA, so I could see that this might be important to VW that they are sure this is working.

Mine has been at the dealership a week now too. Still stuck in transport mode and no car net. My first experience with VW is not off to a great start.

Good news. Picked the car up last night. The car started ”talking” to the VW servers Thursday or Friday morning. Not sure Car Net is working, keep getting 800 warning to try again later, but that’s OK. Love the car. The dealer was very understanding through out the almost two week issue.

We do have to remember that this IS the dealerships first rodeo. I told mine that I knew that I was going to be the beta tester. As long as they are making a sincere effort I car be patient.

On the one hand, I'm with you 100%.

On the other hand — this is Car Net! They already had this on the shelf. This ought to be the one piece of software they shouldn't need to worry about.

My Car Net has worked fine and I appreciate the three features it gives me access to.

But shoot, with BMW's connected app, I can see my hood is open, can unlock the doors, read my mileage, check tire pressure, adjust or deactivate my cabin climitazation schedule. I hope VW impresses me with a feature-rich update in the near future.
