I'm another exception. I received the Step 4 notification on March 10 -with no updates since then. The dealer was able to tell me it was aboard a ship, but not which one. Looks like the soonest it could get to Houston is the 13th. That would make me over a month at Step 4. From there it has to be offloaded, updated, reloaded, and trucked to California. Then the dealer needs it for 24-48 hours. No one is saying how long all of that will take. I will be very surprised if I see my new car before the first of May. And, yes, it seriously annoys me that people who ordered cars weeks after me are getting theirs a month or more before mine arrives.
I am right there with you except mine has been at step 4 since March 4 so I am 5 weeks at step 4 on Thursday. And I just checked my dealer's website and they have 3 for sale....all FEs with VINs higher than mine. Customer care can't even tell me where mine even is or if it is even on a ship. Although today after talking to supervisor they were able to give me a consignment number...which tells me nothing. I am truly happy for everyone getting their car, but this is really taking the fun out if it.

It won't have to get updated at the port if it was created in week 8 or later, because in that case it already has software 2.1. So hopefully your car won't take time to sit at the port for that reason.

And here. FE, Step 4 on March 3 (the email, unhelpfully, didn't show up until the 12th) and no action since. My dealer is an hour's drive from the port in Baltimore.

Oh, and my kids and I bike past the dealer's lot going to/from school every day, so of course we have to check for new arrivals every time. At least that meant we spotted the demo when it showed up and got to check it out - no communication from the EV specialist that it had appeared.

Came to say my reservation that's still live is step 4 as well been like that for a bit now. I too am near Baltimore.

My impatience got the best of me and I found an available FE at a dealership in Dulles. They still haven't figured out how to transfer my reservation to them but they let me buy the car . So there's definitely FE available yet they aren't fulfilling preorders which is just odd

I've been told this is the first time customers were able to preorder a car online, so I get that VW hasn't worked out all of the kinks in the system, but... There appears to be no rhyme nor reason how orders have been filled. Why should orders placed on the same day be delivered months apart?? That would only make sense if there were no other cars delivered during that interval. But cars are arriving all over the US, including non-FEs. I'll say it again: VW needs to drastically improve their customer communication system! The delay wouldn't be so awful if they provided us with regular updates and a realistic timeline for delivery. With over a month of silence, it's no wonder some people have given up and bought a different car.

Hi rec567CA, I can update you once my reservation proceeds to step 5. Were you able to print out the window sticker using the VIN?
I must admit, Linewalker, that I don鈥檛 know how to access the window sticker. Followed the advice on how to get to the VIN, but need to search around here to find the window sticker instructions. Any leads appreciated!

go to http://withclutch.com and you can find it there IF the car is in the US and the sticker has been generated at the port. With mine being lost at sea, even with a VIN, I can't get the window sticker.

Try to be patient. Easy for me to say.
I'm seeing ads for them almost every night. Colbert last night. They are going to hit the dealerships soon cause VW is spending a lot of $$ on ID4 ads.
I glad there are VW ads somewhere because there are none in north central Arkansas. But there are are only four VW dealers in the state!
