I can no longer get wireless CarPlay to work since I upgraded my iPhone to iOS 14.6. Anyone else having similar issue? Does the Car's software keep up with the upgrades of it's compatible devices? Curious if its just me (my phone or my ID4) or if others are having a similar issue with recent iOS upgrade.

I've toggled Bluetooth and Wifi off and on, forgot the network and removed my device from the Car and retried connecting/pairing several times and it wont connect/pair anymore. My husband's iPhone which is not yet upgraded to iOS 14.6 does connect successfully.

Save yourself the frustration and don't upgrade your device!!

Glad you're not having any issues. Did you have to reconnect after the upgrade or was it a smooth transition for you? I will have to keep trying.
No action needed - just got in and it worked. :)

I'm on 14.6 and have been having intermittent problems. Sometimes it connects smoothly; other times I get a notification on the infotainment screen that CarPlay connection failed (I can't recall the exact wording). In those cases, I've noticed there's an error icon next to CarPlay, but some CarPlay features still work. Quite odd.

I think @krusshall is correct in restarting the iPhone might fix the problem. I had some carplay issues recently and the only resolution was restarting the phone, and after that everything has been working just fine again.
Yep, sometimes the iOS is wonky on the first restart after an update.

No issues with my iPhone 12 Mini on CarPlay with iOS 14.6. Just an uneventful transition, for a change.
But I had issues getting the EA App to install Ides of March when other iPhone users did not. So it appears it can be a model as well as iOS thing. 🤷‍♂️

I eventually got it to work. I was trying to connect with Bluetooth only. Apparently, I needed to pair with Bluetooth AND connect to Wifi and then later drop the Wifi. Silly process but it all works now.

Wireless CarPlay is WiFi-based, so you can't really drop the WiFi. Bluetooth is only used for discovery and reconnection.

Yes I have same problem in my car. Brand does not matter. I have Maserati Levante 2021, ı bought 3 months ago, in first 2 months ı connected my CarPlay from phone to my car successfully but when I upgraded to İOS 14.6 to my phone the connection drops after 2-3 hours later or after one day. Bluetooth connection works successfully but CarPlay connection does not work.

I have only run into two glitches with CarPlay. The first time was when the Verizon wireless trial ended and I had to restart both the infotainment and my phone to get it connected again (since then I turned off the in-car wifi broadcast and just use the cable for more stability anyways).

The second time was when I was already on a phone call when I got in the car and connected the cable to put the call in CarPlay to start driving. That caused CarPlay to freak out and nothing with it worked anymore. It even reset my book position in Audible. A reset of the infotainment system eventually let it start working again, but I had to manually find my place in the book to resume. Learned my lesson though, don't be on a call while connecting CarPlay in this car. (This never had an issue in my previous car, so it is definitely an ID.4 CarPlay bug.)
