Why do you want to see degradation , yours is even higher than it should (77000?), mine around 8 months old 6000 miles but I am down to 74400

I saw someone else with a < 3 month old ID4 who also had over 77000Wh. I wonder if 77kwh is to 0% charge then the last 1kw is your emergency move the car after 0%? I don't think many people scan a new car.

Ok so after almost a month I went back in to check, and my capacity went up. So looking at this app alone has to be taken with a bit of salt.

 

How much did yours go up? Yours were already above 77k.
Mine still going down slowly but surely, currently at 73550. 11/1 was 74897.
Last time I did 0 to 100 charge it went back to 74550 but soon it continue on its path down.
Lets say drops around 1300wh per 3 months, if linear 7% per year, I heard its not linear 🤞

 

To get more accurate results do this VW shop testing method:

The most important is discharge to <10% and charge to > 90%, then wait an hour for the BMS to balance the cells. Temperature around 70F.

I am guessing I will never know for sure then. Even on road trips I don't go below 20SOC or above 85%.

 

Another data point: after simply sitting and the battery warmed to 50F (thanks sunroof!), the Maximum energy content of the traction battery rose to 78250wh (was 77700wh at 36F) in car scanner.

 

I think you can only test at 70f to know what the real capacity is.

 

That's good to know. I tested mine the other day and it was showing about 8% degradation. Still pretty chilly, here. I'll test it properly when it warms up.

 

My lowest was 72600 last february (5.7%) freezing temps. Then it got warmer some weeks ago 75F, it went back up to 73700 (4.3%). Past few days got colder again and went down again to 73300 (4.8%). 🤷‍♂️

 

Funny, I only charge at EA, usually to 90% and always to 100% on my many road-trips, and yet my range never dropped in 14,000 miles? I still recommend the VW ID.4 to everyone partly due to the excellent battery.

 

Warranty is 70% at 8yrs or 100k miles.
Seems to me if you only have 50% at 5 yrs or 50k miles, you'd be eligible for a new/rebuilt/refurbished battery.
No matter how you charged it.

What are your specific pids of interest.
Name some and i will explain.
I'm the one who donated almost all pids for ID4 ( it is my hobby and I don't get paid or i get any sponsorship from carscanner app developer, it is my donation to all that are interested in more information pulled by obd2).
I have also supplied bunch of pids for many other brands, usually if they let me have specific vehicles i can tag and address 1000th of them in couple days.

 

My ID.4 battery health is still steadily dropping, mine is currently lower than any of you (71200), but what I found so far my range still about the same as shown in this chart I am maintaining:

Road-trip the ID.4 and hot rod it all you like. It is paranoid in my opinion to think you are killing it’s excellent LG battery.

Edit- Well except maybe for the first 10,000. 😂 But at least it is a minor glitch on a newly developed product and it’s not like they burn like other BEV’s have. 🧯

Well it’s good to know their electric cars are not the same as the ICE technology they send to America.

 

SOH is within 1-3% depending on temperature vs ODIS.
Carscanner has no ability to pass firewall to access another 3 pids for SOH and SOC.
Pids that show energy available is spot on. As SOH goes down, you will see less energy when fully charged . That is another pid that can be recorded for 📈

73000 after 15k miles. When new the GOM gave routinely 240 miles at 80% now it is only 205mi

 

What are other continuing to see? I have been keeping tabs on it about every 6 months give or take a few days.

 

Today (optimal temp of 70ish) I was at 72400 and I have ~17.2k on the clock (bought used). I haven't done the BMS calibration yet (run to near 0 then charge to 100) so not sure if that will make much of a difference.

 

I am down to 10.2% degradation or 69150, following the "waves" of cold / warm seasons. It seems the degradation still pretty linear so far.
The range... it may have degraded just a little bit but nothing close to 10.2%.... how long it will stay that way... we will see.......

 

Your data is way higher resolution than mine. I thought I was keeping tabs on things by looking every 6 months 😂 I am wondering if the new software will give our 2021s / FEs some of the lost range back with efficiency. Looks like you have a lot of data on the estimated range. Have you gotten your upgrade email yet? It would be super cool if you could keep up your data tracking on estimated range after the 3.1 update. I wish I tracked that too now.
