Is anyone else having cell phone reception issues in their ID.4? Podcasts play fine, but Apple Music, which probably uses more data, takes 1-2 minutes before playing a new song. I feel like we are being pressured to sign up for their hotspot!
We have the Pro without the moon roof, so maybe that is too much metal?
We have Verison and iPhones and normally reception is good.
Any solutions (external antenna?) besides getting the hotspot?

I only had use of the hotspot for the first two weeks, and that was 7 months ago. My recollection is my Verizon phone's hotspot was faster than what the car was providing. Our area is thick in 5G coverage though, and I do have the glass roof on the FE, so that that into consideration.

But no, no issues with connectivity nor data speed, no delayed audio or video, the only "issue" are two areas I drive through consistently drop Android Auto, but this happens in the other car I run wireless AA in, so I assume this is an external Wi-Fi interference issue.

I’ve not noticed any issues with my iPhone. Works great even in poor reception areas (I live near and drive through a nature reservation regularly). Works even on the charging tray, inside the center console, out of sight. I have T Mobile, and my iPhone is 3 years old.

I’ve been experiencing it since I bought the car.
Some days are better, but usually takes a while to start playing a song if I select a different playlist via apple music.
Thought my cell phone carrier (ATT) might be the problem, but maybe not.

Can you change the car's carrier selection? I have been having good luck with T-Mobile 5G recently.

I have AT&T and no reception issues in my semi-urban environment. It of course all depends on your cell carrier and their coverage in a particular area.

Let's be reminded that when phone is connected to the vehicle (USB-C best?) it is taking advantage of the vehicle's antenna system to augment reception. I don't believe "hotspot" subscription is required for same, as that's more about localized WiFi.

OP and I have a Pro model without glass roof, if that makes any difference in cell reception.

Check to see if your phone updated to IOS 15. It's caused major problems for people with Apple Music and Carplay. It took me two days to get Carplay working again after the update. It finally took IOS 15.1 before I could get anything working again. The first symptom was Apple Music would take minutes to load any songs and then it would disconnect. Google it and you'll see LOTS of problems out there.

I’m beginning to wonder if my cell module on the infotainment has a issue. I get one bar on 4G signal almost everywhere. I have a VZ cell phone where it shows 3 bars and the car infotainment still shows 1 bar. Anyone else experience this?

I can't seem to find an Antenna layout for the ID.4, but here's one for my prior 2016 TTS and I presume somewhat similar. It too used the vehicle's antennas to augment its own cellular service and also that of a connected cellphone.
