Center Dash Air Vent Repair

While removing the center dashboard air vent which was broken during the annual inspection at the dealer, the two little silver spring-loaded pins fell out with the other pieces. I'm guessing that they are for some sort of motion detent, but I can't see where they might have go in the finished unit or what they might do.

The action of each slider doesn't appear to require any detent and the flappers all work as expected.

Does anybody know what they might do?
Could someone go out to their 2021 ID and check the movement of the vents to see what might be stepped by a detent?

Never mind. The pins go between the slider and the hinged piece to prevent rattling. They also thus push the mechanism apart.

Currently testing adhesives to see what works with this material.

Those silver pins are the detents for the up/down tilt of the entire vent housing. When you push the whole vent nozzle up or down, the "step" you feel is controlled by those pins and a small internal ramp. Without them, the vent will still move but it will feel loose and won't hold its position firmly. They need to be reinstalled for the tilt function to work correctly.
