Never mind. The pins go between the slider and the hinged piece to prevent rattling. They also thus push the mechanism apart.

Currently testing adhesives to see what works with this material.

 

Um, if the dealer broke it, why aren’t the fixing at their cost? And if for whatever reason you can’t make that happen, it isn’t an expensive part…

Those silver pins are the detents for the up/down tilt of the entire vent housing. When you push the whole vent nozzle up or down, the "step" you feel is controlled by those pins and a small internal ramp. Without them, the vent will still move but it will feel loose and won't hold its position firmly. They need to be reinstalled for the tilt function to work correctly.

 

For less time than it would have taken to drive to the dealer and back, we again have working vents. They did say they would get the part some time in October.

 

If thats the drives side vent, mine broke in the same spot. Although I stupidly threw mine out thinking it was not repairable. Has anyone had it fixed at the dealership? I wondering what it will cost.
