Has anybody been able to change the dealership after the order was locked in? My motivation is to bring the car to NY state instead of VT, found out that i would not receive state incentive if using out of state dealer. Would be nice if this was mentioned on the portal when entering the order...

I tried by phone and chat, both times was told that the order can not be changed at this point (car is just barely being shipped). Is there anybody on this forum by any chance with the reverse situation, needs to have their car delivered to VT instead of NY?

I was able to change state/dealer. With customer service, agent named Roger. Was most helpful. Changed from NH to Texas. (We moved.) But order was not locked. Refunded the initial $100 (which is a payment to dealer.) and then took a new payment of $100 and $400 to lock in.

Just a thought but if it comes to this, perhaps come up with a plan with your NH dealer where you don't buy the car as the reservation holder after it arrives and they can then trade with an NY dealer where you can buy it as a "walk-in customer". You'd have to facilitate and find a willing NY dealer who will do a trade and not hit you with a markup.

Would you mind sharing any details I could use to make a case with VW (basically you did it for this customer, why not for my car).
I just clicked on the "Chat Now" button from the page where I was viewing my order status. I had done my original reservation in mid July (paying $100) and then placed my order ($400) later in August. I had test driven an ID.4 in Pennsylvania but didn't want to buy it there because of NJ incentives (and I live in NJ). So I picked a dealer near me. I decided it was a mistake not to have talked to a dealer before placing my order thinking that it would be good to get an informal agreement that they wouldn't mark up the car. Also I wanted to show the car to my wife and test drive it again. The dealer I had chosen didn't have an ID.4 car to show, so I went to another dealer. They were nice and since I hadn't spent any time with the other dealer, it seemed fair to switch from the one I had selected to the other. As I said, I just clicked the "Chat Now" button and asked them to change the dealer of my reservation. They didn't give me any problems -- I don't think they even asked for a reason. They just confirmed some info. They also said that my credit card would be credited for the original 2 payments and 2 new payments made because I guess they go directly to the dealer. This was done when the Order was Locked (and it still is) and the estimated pickup was (and still is) Nov - Dec. I've ordered an ID.4 Pro S without the Gradient package.

This is the outlook based on a chat with Customer Care:

If i cancel this reservation and order another one, what would the ETA be.
Right now the estimated time for delivery is 3 to 4 months for a RWD and 6 to 8 months for an AWD

I changed dealership within state by chatting online about a week ago. Order was locked but not shipped.
I just inquired about changing my dealership delivery site and VW Customer Care said it wasn't possible. Any thoughts about presenting my case would be appreciated. :)

I just connected with VW Customer Care via the portal IM. I am unable to change my deanship because my order has been given a "Confirmation Number" The Status 10 evidently means that the order has been received by the factory and is in their system. I guess that this is the difference between status "03" - Locked and "10" - Locked.

I guess so. My reservation was (and still is:() in status "03".

When I tried to change dealers, it caused an error on their end. A week later the advocated asked to remove the credit card info and then it worked. It's possible it happened because the credit card number changed. I did enter the new card info as well. Just in case anyone comes across this.

My original dealer first promised msrp then sounded unsure when it came to add the 400 bucks. So I moved it to the Pasadena Vw dealer in California.
