Picked my car up Saturday, very happy with it!

When double tapping lock on my fob the horn does NOT beep. I am hopeful that there is a setting for a chirp rather than beep, haven’t found that or been able to enable honk on double lock. Any ideas?

You have to enable it. It's off by default. Look under "Vehicle...Exterior...swipe left 2x to Central locking...and scroll down to/enable Confirmation Tone."

Unfortunately it's a beep not a chirp.

A ridiculously long beep, too. I've never heard any other vehicle's locking beep/chirp sound anything like the ID.4's.

I tried it today when I got home, I will be switching it off and looking for updates on this topic. I agree, never heard a “doors locked” confirmation quite like it…

the first time my wife drove mine she wasn't sure if it locked so she pressed the lock button again and about scared an old lady to death.

I'm glad I'm not the only person who thinks this. I have never heard a car with a lock sound like this. Most cars nowadays make some sort of artificial sound, but no, not the ID.4. VW had to make the ID.4 have a full on honk to let you know it was locked. My favorite part about it is that even VW knows it is terrible and turns it off by default.

It is so that everyone gets out of the habit of creating noise when none is needed. Just sayin'. ;)

On previous VWs, the chirp confirmation tone is produced by a separate alarm siren that is commonly under the rain tray beneath the windshield. The US market vehicles usually omit the better anti theft system as a cost saving measure.

If the European ID.4 chirps when locking, there is some hope that the anti theft siren can be retrofit.
