That's the Flex in it. A great EVSE choice for future proofing. At least until V2G gets going "next year".
V2G is more hype than reality....from engineering standpoint...associated losses between charging and discharging using onboard V2G capable inverter you will have losses over 12% combined..... that owner will have to face.....You do the math and see for yourself.
Something what Ioniq 5 is doing is okay...but using EV as house battery storage on the wheels will result in more disadvantages than advantages. For people who think that at some markets that have night cheaper electric than day time and charge overnight and sell back in daytime will have to consider not only 12+% losses but number of charging and discharging events for the life of the EV.....
Using EV to power things like when on vacation in the middle of nowhere and have access to 120V is priceless and all mentioned losses are irrelevant. And emergency times where Local electric companies are down.
So we are quite far away from true V2G and only benefits that will see are Electric companies and owners will face all the losses and a lot less time to enjoy EV for what is made.
Is there way to make this losses much lower...yes but i don't think owner should pay for this hardware on the EV... Electric companies should pay for better hardware because it is Electric company interest more than in owners interest.
So look for V2 that is for owner use ....because above mentioned losses are going to cost you as owner when charging and discharging and selling back.
