Don’t think so. My charger door has opened twice in a certain car wash and water was sprayed in it. Gah. I need to remember to lock the doors.

Many cars have push-to-open gas door flaps so this isn’t unique to the ID.4. But maybe it needs more force required to open, I.e. the flap opens too easily.

I think I've also noticed that the car doesn't notify you if the charger flap is open and you drive off. The other morning (dealing with some snow accumulation), I thought I'd successfully closed the flap but when I got to work, there it was, wide open! (2021 AWD Pro S, old software)

My Volt has a specific alarm for this but I don't think that the ID.4 even knows. If that's true, that's a big oversight.

I recognize it's resultant of my aviation background but I always do a "pre-flight" walk around.

We complain there are too many nannies and now we want one to tell us the charge port flap is open? I also recognize that it being on the passenger side not as readily observable but still ..... 🤦‍♂️

btw: Although I have my exterior mirrors aligned to address blind spots I can still lean-into same and check the port flap even if I somehow miss it in "pre-flight." ;)

Inadvertently people/car wash bumping into and then presenting its rather flimsy construction is indeed a concern however [I know, weight reduction consideration wherever possible].

I had the issue, I was putting the heavy charging cable at EA back and forgot to close the flap and only realized at the next stop. I have the 2023 AWD Pro S with 3.1 s/ w. Still same issue 😕

This being New Hampshire, I'm pretty sure I'll have more opportunities to observe this behavior (closing the charge port door in snowy weather) over the next several months so now I'll pay attention. ;-)

I'll try to remember to report back later.

Anyone have the charger flap auto open on them after backing up. This has happened a few times where I’ve back up, then hit the park button and the door pops open suddenly.

Not a big deal as I’m parked and will probably use the charger, but the sound is always a surprise and I didn’t think this was an automated feature. Figuring it just wasn’t closed all the way, but only happens this way, more then I would think is just a coincidence?

I like to ask as after a month the car keeps adding surprises. For instance I have been using wiper service position a lot when parking recently to make cleaning snow and ice out of the wiper cavity easier. Sometimes the wipers now just go to the service position when parking without needing to hit the button on the screen. Not every time, but maybe once every 3 times I park this month.

It doesn't. I charged at EA and then got distracted by the cable not going back into the holder right. Got in the car and drove off. There is a warning though, the DC pin cover makes a nice warning tapping sound as you drive down the road. Not sure it does the paint any good though.

My wife was not amused and now makes sure to remind me every time I get in the car.
